Circular walk to mop up outstanding tops on this ridge. Bowness Knott, Brown How, Herdus, Great Borne, Gale Fell (one of those Birketts that has no significance other than being a bump en-route between better tops) Gale Fell East Top, Starling Dodd, Little Dodd, Red Pike, Dodd, Red Pike, unrelenting steep descent to youth hostel (never did find the path shown on the OS map)ijpowell29/05/2014
With Jo, walk from Buttermere: Gale Fell East Top (steep, rough climb from NY 14958 16723), Gale Fell, Starling Dodd, Little Dodd (Ennerdale), Red Pike (Buttermere). Weather; sunny, warm, good visibility.amblerbob18/04/2014
A suitably apt name given the strong winds and heavy rain that persisted all day. A round of 10 Wainwrights and Birketts on final day of our Cumbria 2014 trip. From Buttermere hostel up onto the ridge via the nasty Scale Beck path. This is a forgetful grassy summit on a parish boundary.jonglew05/04/2014
