As others: from the parking space by the gate near Hope Beck.PGCE05/09/2023
Parked by the gate at Hopegate, If the stream is high it is best to cross it immediately by the footbridge. Otherwise it is a long trek on the path to find a place to cross, keeping your feet dry. There is a small path which avoids the worst of the braken. Leave this before reaching the col. A pleasant hill, lacking a decent cairn on the summit.JohnW17/07/2023

Parked at small car park by gate in road at NY 1688,2417. South on RoW then cross Hope Beck by sheep fold overgrown with bracken - Someone kindly rebuilt a rock crossing quite recently. Continue on path then cut up SE through bracken before springs. Follow path SE then S then SW. Path splits before hause, best to go up via hause turning right just after crags and just past path on left to Whiteside. Three cairns at top most southerly highest, most northerly lowest but has best views.Hillsidenick30/10/2017
Parking area just N. of the road gate at 169241 (Space for 6-7 cars) – S. along RoW, crossed Hope Beck & then made way up to path on S. side of Hope Beck – Followed path up to col & then a short climb to summit cairn. Continued to Swinside. (PM)gerrybowes29/08/2017

With Jenx and 18 other baggers to celebrate our final Birkett, from good parking above gate at Hopebeck. Bit of a dreek windy day but the lee of hill made it doable. Minor celebrations on top followed by party down by the beck - whisky and cake. Great day and thanks to all who attended :-)nordicstar28/11/2015

Excellent parking available in the old quarry just through the gate alongside Hope Beck. From here a good, and not too steep, paths leads up to the eastern col and then directly to the summit. Not too challenging this way.moorsman08/05/2015
