The Newlands Horseshoe anticlockwise from Little Town, with the aim of collecting 7 Birketts / Synges not yet visited on my countless walks along the main ridges. So rather than ascending Robinson, I took the Scope End ridge direct up to Hindscarth, visiting the summits of Scope End, Red Knott and High Crags enroute. Then the usual path to Dale Head. Descended part way towards Honister Pass, taking minor track in a long sweep across the boggy High Scawdel, dropping past the head of Tongue Gill. There then followed very tough terrain along the side of High Spy to bag Low Scawdel and Nitting Haws. From there used the track to bring me out onto the main ridge. Headed S to the main top, then returned N to the N Top. Followed the wonderful cliff edge track to the summit of Maiden Moor, then on along the main track, before dropping steeply down the east side of the crags and across the undulating shelf to High Crags, and back to Little Town. 18km with 1200m ascent, taking me 7 hours.silveracorn_alan25/10/2022

E down to Dalehead Tarn and then N over High Spy and Maiden Moor and onto Catbells summit. Return S to Hause Gate and take the Yewthwaite Comb bridleway back to Little Town. Sunny. https://www.flickr.com/photos/samandjo/albums/72177720303032668SalmonJoe18/10/2022

Parking area on E. side of Chapel Bridge (space for 8 or 9 cars; £3 honesty box) - Along road to Newlands Church, turned left & along permissive path (farm track) to Low Snab Farm - Through farmyard & then well-worn path up NE ridge & over the 3 possible Birkett locations. The highest hump is the most south westerly, but the best views are from the most north westerly. Continued to Red Knott. (S)gerrybowes18/09/2017
Parked at the bridge close to Little Town. Walked via the church and Low House Farm before the steep climb which is very slippery the last 400m when the rain is sweeping down! It was clear though. With Marli.bolton10/09/2017

Nice little domed top right on the excellent ridge path north from Hindscarth. Superb views along Newlands valley to Northern Fells. Last fell of day, back down via Low Snab and along permissive path to church and car park - £3 a day via honesty box, but only paid £2.25 today as that is all the change we had. No pub on way home today as neighbour had rung to say our house alarm was going off. Fortunately just a false alarm.Hillsidenick24/05/2017

An absolutely fantastic round with superb ridges, tops, scrambles, ridge walking galore, great views all round, could see the see (blighted with wind turbines), had a bit of a cloud come through on Hindscarth but apart from that great walking weather. Went up the Hindscarth ridge from the Newlands Chapel, round onto Robinson and down the ridge from there back to the Chapel. Will definately do that route again sometime. Set off at 10 and down by 2.30Mark T01/02/2017
