Overcast but dry, w some views of surrounding hills, though other tops in and out of mist. Easy ascent on big but saturated track; summit a delightful padded meadow. 2h 10m all told. | NorfolkPT21 | 28/09/2023 |
2 of 4: From Sron na h-Eiteich. New shotgun cartridges around but no-one in sight today. With Karen. | ChrisR | 30/08/2023 |
As others via the muddy atv track. Really slippy in places - would recommend use of walking poles coming down. | Ben Rinnes | 05/07/2023 |
Climbed with The Sow of Atholl | FCMark | 19/05/2023 |
Parked at the level crossing, walked to the newer bridge through the scattered houses, turned right and then obvious ATV track which fortunately was still frozen and made the going easy. Great views from the summit! Around 2.5 hours and under 5 miles. Solo. | bolton | 03/03/2023 |
From Dalnaspidal; straightforward ascent south up the side of the burn and along the ridge. Partially frozen terrain down to the glens made going slightly easier | Rockdoctor | 23/02/2023 |
With John and wee Islay from Dalnispidal. Tracks almost all the way up, slushy snow from around 500m and a mix of ice and drift snow higher up, with no visibility above 650m. Tapped the summit and turned straight back around for the descent - total time 2h 34min. | mproudfoot | 24/12/2022 |
Up and down the ATV track from Dalnaspidal. | GmacT | 29/10/2022 |
High cloud, pretty still, coldish on top. En route Strathkinness to Glen Banchor. Returned wallet found on hill after. | Rounsfell | 26/07/2022 |
With Steve, Rod & John | Oik | 04/06/2022 |
From level crossing with Rod, Grant and John in glorious conditions at as lazy a pace as we could manage in the heat with restrictions on our entry time to house at Kingussie. Excellent views in all directions. | SS | 04/06/2022 |
14km/3hr loop from dalnaspidal, parked before the level crossing. (second attempt at this one as tried in winter 2020/21 and ended up getting stuck in the snow, the road is a lot steaper than anticipated and worth parking in layby 77 rather than leaving the a9!) loop of Sron na h-Eiteich, Meall na Leitreach and Meall Breac. Very straight forward and added Meall Breac as a bonus as the ground was fairly dry and the heather/grass wasn't too high. Very pleasant loop despite views obscured by clouds. | Nicky C | 03/04/2022 |
From Dalnaspial with Moira. Good day, not much snow left. | ColB | 18/03/2022 |
From Dalnaspidal. Over railway and bear left through estate houses. New bridge not shown on older maps GR647747, right fork before heading up the slope. Snow from the road and passed by snowmobiles. Sun and snow... | N.Morters | 19/02/2022 |
Sow and Meall na Leithreach from Dalnaspidal. | thekirkie pirate | 25/01/2022 |
Last day of an OMC meet at Raeburn Hut north of Dalwhinnie.

With Dave Scott, we parked at the Dalnasipdal level crossing, crossed the bridge / weir. Then headed up a boggy ATV track, which yakes you up over Sron na h-Eiteich, then after a dip the track passes to the north of the summit of Meall na Leitreach. We returned the same way.

No views on top as the cloud was down to around 600m, 03:15hrs all in. | chillyman8 | 14/11/2021 |
Repeat visit
From Dalnaspidal to Centre of Scotland. Then shooting butt track up Meal Breac to trig. New fence being erected north of the trig may make access more awkward in future. Across to Meal na Leitreach for return visit then down to Dalnaspidal via ron na h-Eiteich | Fife Walking | 22/08/2021 |
Janice and Joan then went on to do the Sow. Warm an sunny. | Play2End | 21/04/2021 |
Parked in a railway storage yard about a km west of the A9's lay-by 72, where there is a handy crossing for both the railway and the parallel river. A post and plaque just along the grouse-troubler track mark the centre of Scotland, from which point we headed up the butted flank of Sron na h-Eiteich to its top, then picked up an ATV track to Meall na Leitreach, which was handy in the mist. On the misguided promise of coming blue skies we headed over the boggy moor to Carn Dearg then followed old fencing posts back to Meall Breac. A newish track extension through Allt Choire Leathanaidh gave an easy return to the bridge, level crossing and car - where the sun eventually came out, three hours too late! | summitter | 27/02/2021 |
With Tam , broken cloud above cloud inversion over Dunkeld | TamCollie | 28/11/2020 |

Meall na Leitreach and The Sow of Atholl from Dalnaspidal Lodge. | rhalstead | 21/06/2019 |
Beautiful day with GFE and DTL (starting with Perth parkrun). From the parking spots just before the railway line: Sron na h-Eiteich, Meall na Leitreach, Sgairneach Mhor (all three tops). Saw mountain hares and a beautiful amount of wildlife but sadly lots of traps too. | Fionalevey | 04/05/2019 |
From Dalnaspidal along tracks to SE slopes of Sow of Atholl, then straight up to summit, return down to main track, across and followed ATV tracks over Sron na h-Eiteich and Meall na Leitrach, return same way back to Dalnaspidal | kdbennett | 04/05/2019 |

Up and down the ATV track from Dalnaspidal. | davidpettit84 | 26/10/2018 |
After the Sow, this seemed a longer and more boring ascent/descent. Basically followed a ATV track almost to the top. | Jhimmy | 21/04/2018 |

With a great effort of will, I put my faith in the Met office, and set off up Meall na Leitreach, despite continuing rain, after bagging the Sow in sleet, rain and a gale. I spent most of the climb damply muttering under my breath about the accuracy of the Met Office book of lies. I was made to eat my words when the clouds parted and the sun came out exactly as predicted, just as I reached the summit cairn. Glorious 360 degree views and a lovely walk down. You could almost imagine that the A9 and the super pylons had been magicked away. Well done, Met office. | Gill | 31/03/2017 |
Solo with Lily from Creag a'Mhadaidh after Beinn Mholach on a calm, dry ,low cloud day | alexmaclennan | 28/03/2017 |

ghaley | 09/09/2016 | |
Hitched from Dalwhinnie so made it a short day due to possible problems of getting a lift back. From Dalnaspidal to bridge then ignored track and headed straight up hillside which proved much quicker that those who took the very circuitous track. From summit then headed east over boggy ground to Meall breac made more difficult by the few inches of snow that had fallen. Returned by similar route but contouring north of Meall na Leitreach summit. Final descent made much easier by a good snow run. There was a good track just after the col west of Meall Breac heading NE which may proviode a viable return on easy going | dickscroop | 28/03/2016 |
Up the track & along the ridge from Dalnaspidal to Meall Na Leitreach. Return as outward. With Nathan. | MorecambeMonkey | 08/03/2016 |

Mountain hares on this peak and the Sow of Atholl very numerous. Crampons very much needed. Clear air gave excellent views from summit. Company: Solo | iandesbottes | 08/02/2015 |
From Dalnaspeed-dial. Last nights downpour certainly made Garry look fierce. You wouldn't to fall in. | Martin R | 28/10/2014 |
