4th Simm of 5 from Birse Castle, Gannoch, Cat, Tampie, this one then Cammie, returning over Mudlee to gain access to the descent route down the Fungle Road. | NormanW | 02/10/2023 |
4 of 4: From Tampie. Same route as Gill. We then returned to the HP of the Fungle Road. Whilst heading north back to the roadend CP Karen saw an Adder which quickly retreated into the undergrowth. | ChrisR | 09/08/2023 |
From Birse Car Park east of Ballochan. Up the Fungle Road to high point. Just South of gate at top of track an ATV track heads off East across the heather and roughly follows the fence line East until it meets the main track coming up from Glen Esk just before the top. No Cairn. | Jossker | 29/07/2023 |

From the Fungle Road | Gonk | 18/03/2022 |
An easy circuit from Birse Castle, using the track up to Gannoch Hill, then over Tampie. Down until the route to Mudlee Bracks is visible, then shortcut down to Fungle Road and up an ATV track next to the fence. Over the top and onto the track to Hill Of Cammie. Shite ground N towards Cock Hill, but bits of mown ATV track help, except over the 550m bump and 536m col. Good track thereafter over Cock Hill. I cut back towards the Fungle road on a mown track but this involves fording the Water of Feugh. Would be better using either the bridge by Ballochan or further E but I had left the map in the car... | Gill | 06/09/2020 |

On way to Battock and later back again With L -15 windy miles in glorious winter sun. From Birse Chapel road end -perfect dry smooth path (Fungle) and from summit of Mudlee Bracks fine gravel 'motorway size' track pretty much the whole way - wore trail shoes- half running when we could - switchback route over Mudlee Bracks and Mill of Cammie. NW freezing wind was 14 mph in valley but was a constant 47mph on summit (measured by a fellow walker in summit wind shelter) Rather excitingly this just qualifies as No 9 - a Strong / Severe Gale on the Baeufort Scale (47-54mph) which required an exciting battle on upper slope to and from cairn -linked arms helped. Returned same way into wind for a full body workout -body and arms as well as legs pushing against the wind. Left side of my face went numb - felt like Id been to the dentist. Fantastic 5 and half hours outing. | Chris Pearson | 18/01/2020 |

Easy link-up from Hill of Cammie, track all the way. | Lindsay M | 06/05/2018 |
A long west to east round from Birse castle via all Graham tops from Gannoch to Peter Hill plus Baudnacauner. Quite a lost of track so speedy going. teeming with mountain hares which looked very conspicuous in the absence of snow. | dickscroop | 19/02/2017 |
Solo. From car park at end of road at NO532906. Mount Battock via Mudlee Bracks and Hill of Cammie. Walked along right of way to join Fungle Road (one of the Mounth Roads) and went south on it to the watershed. Here is a double electrified fence going west to east. Followed odd bits of path and higher up track to summit of Mudlee Bracks. A significant track comes up from the SW to close by the summit. The highest point seems to be just S of the track as shown on the OS 1:25,000 map. Misty on top so RHW is no doubt right that highest point is really further north. | pwbellarby | 19/06/2016 |
