2 of 4: From Cairn Vachich and again returning from Dubh Breac Hill. With Karen. | ChrisR | 03/11/2022 |
A bike assisted round of 4 Simms and 4 Dodds from the track east of the Luib. geal charn, cairn vachich, the socach, dubh breac hill, knapps, green hill, breagach hill, green hill south top, biked down track to near torrandhu and back along A939. | robertphillips | 18/07/2022 |
A very cold day for this lovely walk, going up Glen Ernan and down by the fishing loch. Nice hard neve covering the stony track up from the shooting huts, fog, frost and a verglassed track on the top, rock hard snow drifts over the descent track - micro-spikes needed for the first time this year. | Gill2 | 20/12/2021 |
Good parking at 335158 then pleasant walk up following Water of Nochty and Quillichan Burn. | Tony S | 18/06/2021 |
Walked along track from Cairn Vachich. Not possible to ford Ernan Water as it was in spate but luckily there is a bridge just a bit further upstream | 187lenny | 20/10/2019 |
A very good and easy afternoon stroll from Edinglassie. Up past the fishing loch and up the hill from the N; down the S ridge and back down the beautiful Glen Ernan. On tracks all the way, so maximum enjoyment of the splendid views. | Gill | 12/10/2019 |
From Dubh Breac Hill. Up good track from south of the col. | KeithByTheC | 15/05/2019 |
From track junction SW of Rhinstacks accessed via Firs Cottage. Low cloud pretty much all day made route finding an issue. Left turn above Rhinstacks not obvious but other otherwise an easy route to Moss Hill. Did not find the E-W path shown on map before Little Geal Charn but did find summit. Route on to Letterach not obvious in cloud and wandered around a bit. Did get there but actual summit not clear on a flat summit area. Continued past top until it started to descend and then picked up 'high' points on way back. Dropped west off 'ridge' too early, worked my way back to col NE of Dun Muir where I could see no evidence of the two cross paths shown on map - still in cloud. Not sure where I was I decided to call it a day and headed SE to pick up tracks. When I did and confirmed where I was I decided I still had time for three more tops so pushed on to Finlate Hill, The Socach, Dubh Breac Hill and N to the track back to the car. Despite cloud a pleasant enough day. | dickscroop | 22/08/2017 |
After Carn Vacich, on clockwise circuit from Milton. Tiny cairn on NE summit 10m S of main cairn. SW summit only 1m lower by hand level sighting both ways hence worth a visit. Bitter cold wind. | RHW | 30/04/2017 |
Parked below Torrandhu then up track to Carn Mor, over Sron Aonghais, Geal Charn for Iain Brown's 2500th HuMP then onward to Cairn Vachich for carrot cake and Jura malt to celebrate my 3000th TUMP. Then onward to The Socach, Dubh Breac Hill, Knapps, Green Hill and Greenhill South Top to complete our 23KM journey. | Dugswell2 | 23/10/2015 |
Big wide open spaces and fast walking on easy tracks. | alda | 19/10/2015 |
Ascended after Geal Carn and Cairn Vachich, but this is a better summit - it was also my 1,500th Sim. | JohnW | 06/04/2014 |
