After Conachcraig with J during a hot & sunny week based in Tomintoul. Third ascent for me, first for J & the best view I've had. More remarkable though for what we saw on the hill. Disturbed 3 ptarmigan on the way to the summit via Cac Carn Mor. But on way back down, deviated from the standard path a little way & came across another ptarmigan head poking up above a rock. Then another appeared & another & another & another... We counted 11 in total.NotReallyABagger04/09/2023
Third of three, on Loch Nagar anti-clockwise loop from Spittal of Glenmuick. We started early, and had the whole area to ourselves - only seeing others coming up as we descended to the queen’s house. We attempted to sit and soothe our feet in Loch Muick, but swarms of midges drove us away in two minutes flat!Toby-and-Dion23/08/2023

With Eve. Set off from Glenmuick Car Park around 9. The good track and path made the ascent easy and straightforward, even up the boulder staircase just past Meikle Pap. Clear skies all the way up making for expansive views, but the most impressive sight was by far of Lochnagar's impressive corrie. Once up the boulder staircase, a tactical formation of cairns guard the path above the edge of this to avoid any unhappy accidents! Fantastic granite tor for a summit.RufusHodge26/05/2023
From large loch Muick carpark (£5) via Meikle Pap and Cuidhe Crom. Soft snow on ground. Cloud lifted on summit. Trig and topograph. Descent via standard Glas Allt stream route , past impressive waterfall then east along Loch Muick ( excellent lakeside track). With Tony G , Richard and Gillian W, Derek and Gillian C.Denise 16/04/2023
Parked at the Spittal of Glenmuick (£5 cash/card in machine). Good track then path up to Meikle Pap, snow slope up to Cuidhe Crom and across to Lochnagar. Return down Glas Allt and waterfalls to car park. Cloud base around 900m and snow line around 850m. Brief weather window on Lochnagar across to The Stuic. Hard going in the soft snow. 12.3 mile walk up and down Lochnagar on the tourist path from Spittal of Glen Muick. On the way back we went over Cac Carn Mor, Cuidhe Crom and Meikle Pap. The day started out nicely with high cloud and sun but as we descended from Meikle Pap our last hill the cloud came down. Glad we got the great views from the summit of Lochnagar. 1045m ascent altoghether. Saw about 20 people. Had the top to ourselves for a bit.DanTrig13/09/2021

A mint day of sub-zero temperatures and sunshine had attracted 60 cars to an overflowing Loch Muick carpark by 9am (presumably all from Tier 2 Aberdeen/shire due to Covid tier restrictions). Verglas high up on path /rocks by Miekle Pap . Crunchy frozen moss and 'icicle grass' gave easier grip. Queues (socially distanced of a sort) to clamber up icy summit tor sparkling in the sunshine. Everyone seemed to arrive at the same time as though carefully planned. Glimpse of the great corrie -of climbing memories. My 4 previous ascents to summit plateau had all been via a climb first both summer and winter. Good to see the impressive hanging valley waterfall of Glasalt on way down in sunshine / cold shade.Chris Pearson28/11/2020
