Similar to Smudge, from Achterneed along forest road to NH466601 where rough ATV track heads west then north, ending around 150m from top with small cairn. Lumpy ground for last 500m. Decent views but won't be repeating in a hurry! Unfortunately you can't see the railway cutting from above. | willyross | 09/03/2021 |
a bit of a horror show with felled trees and leg swallowing holes.....monica and neil | VerySlowPlodder | 01/05/2020 |
Contin to Strathpeffer. A clockwise loop from forest track at 466601, which started on a promising trail as far as 464600, took an hour. | Smudge | 20/12/2019 |
1 of 2: From Achterneed. Parking suggestion by RHW is not available (I asked the helpful guy at the sawmill). A lady I asked for parking advice said I could use her drive. Very good of her. I started by attempting Torr na Maille. Circumnavigated it and got to 50m SW of top but the tangle of fallen trees was impassable. Will try from North sometime. NB there are 2 railway underpasses. | ChrisR | 10/05/2019 |
Scrubby felled tree approach along tracks from sawmill parking. Interesting summit area, but brashy | nordicstar | 08/06/2018 |
From parking spot just E of sawmill. | jimbloomer | 15/03/2018 |
From E, limited parking before sawmill but would have been better to drive further in where plenty parking. Then Colin C route. Then retraced steps and on to Torr na Maile | RHW | 27/05/2016 |
probably much easier now than previously. From approx. NH465601, a logging route heads north west through a felled area, getting to within 100m or so of the top. That last stretch is a bit of a tussle but the cairn on a dome of rock makes it worthwhile. | Colin Crawford | 27/08/2014 |
