Parked off the road at NG18767 53604. Through a gate at NG18750 53635, across a grazed area to another gate at NG18442 53490, then up on short heather and grass to the summit. Great views. On to Ben Ettow. | LizH | 23/09/2021 |
Following the ridge to Biod an Athair | quadbarrel | 10/04/2018 |
parked up to sleep the previous night at NG 181 545 (double palindrome grid ref)
Wake really early to a beautiful dawn and decide not to try and get to sleep again. On car radio, sad to hear about the devastating suicide bombing in Manchester Arena previous night. Started 5.15am at road end gradually rising to Biod an Athair the most westerly of Skye's Marilyns. Trig pillar at 314m. One cant walk down the other side of this mountain. There is no other side. One metre from the trig pillar I lay down on the machair and stared down 1029feet to the Atlantic ocean part called The Minch. Contiuing my anticlockwise walk down off the summit towards Ben Skriag, a mum sheep runs away from her lamb that stays standing there. It had ochre coloured mucousy bits still stuck to some of its fur. I reckon it had just been born and hadn't found it's legs yet. The on SE to Ben Ettow then north back to the car. | vegibagger | 23/05/2017 |
