During 23rd Venture Unit New Year trip to Glendoll Youth Hostel. Mike G, Nigel R and myself headed up Jock’s Road which had rebuffed us last year. During the day we bagged Tolmount, Tom Buidhe, four Tops and Cairn Bannoch, the last being Mike’s one hundred and fiftieth Munro – he’s lost count of Tops. As we walked down Jock’s Road back to the hostel one could look up and see a wafer-like moon in one quarter and a ball of fire which was the sun in another quarter of a sky of paint box blue afire with streaks of orange. More than compensation for a day’s wandering on tops without seeing anything but white mist and snow. The New Year was brought in in the traditional style with folk-singing into the early hours of the morning.langskill31/12/1968
