Local advice not to park at Hillock so used area by bridge below Newton and went via Corinacy and Black HillTony S09/11/2022
From Tomnaven, the fp on the map is blocked with gorse but easily through fields and eventually through heather to high point. My 17th Hump in 3 days and with weather miserable cold and drizzly that was enough.NormanW24/04/2022
Walked from Daugh of Corinacy187lenny31/12/2018
From Black Hill on mountain bike using combination of wind farm and forestry tracks as far as 424327 then quick heather bashing west to top.Dave McG22/08/2018
The Jim Bloomer route, parked on verge after turning with fun at end of road. 4x4 helped, tracks to summit, lots of deep heather. Direct line back down much easier. House at end of track now bought for redevelopment according to local nice farmer we met At least road will get resurfaced.nordicstar25/01/2018
Ascended from Mill of Lynebain, over foot bridge and past farm buildings at Gouls. The mapped track (?old peat cutting access track) through the forest (east) is followable but the grass is long. The summit ridge is thick springy heather with occasional tracks and old peat cuttings where the heather is sparser. We visited the NE end with the trig first, then the SW end, which felt lower but the GPS said was higher. We then descended easily over longish grass NE down to the River Deveren then along the riverside path back to our car. The summit is indistinct on heather, near a peat hag/ cutting and the whole ridge has a remote feel to it with extensive views.Denise 03/10/2016
Park at Mill of Lynebain (public road down to river) Old peat cutters track up to ridge along forest fire breaks then along the heathery ridge from trig point to SSW summit - a good work-out.RichardM03/10/2016
Tussocky levelish heather. From Hillock farm, after Black Hill, track along forest edge then heathery climb, picked up track leading almost to summit. Descended via mapped track wnw and back along road. Then into Aberdeen for Shetland ferry with Alan Whatley and hopefully Fair IsleRHW23/06/2016

Only did the 527m top not the 517m top as came up from the NW at Tomnaven and went SW to Black Hill. The latter is better going to the forest rather than a straight line to the saddle between them.Alan Moore17/05/2016
From Tomnaven. Road beyond Hillock is awful - so ascent from Hillock might be worth considering.jimbloomer21/04/2016
From abandoned farmhouse Tomnaven. Suggest you head direct towards summit from end of well-worn left track to pick up a grouse-slaughterer's path and then bounce on the heather.Martin R29/03/2016
On run from The Buck to Huntly, with TR.amswanston26/05/2013
From Tomnaven - parking tricky at side of road - Workies still renovating the house - yard mega guttery. Lower track overgrown - top a bit tussocky - path quickly peters out. Mystery excavation near top ? Still potholes in the road past Hillock of Echt.Gonkblank
