Parked NO 353714. Bike to NO 261 087. Track up thru' forest. Continues to NO 300762. Easy walking over Cathelle Houses, Boustie Ley, Benty Roads (What??), The Snub, Green Hill, Craigs of Loch Wharral, Ben Tirran. SSW to mapped path. Missed turn at first FB (NO 358724). Realized at marked ford, where W thru' felled forest, getting wet feet over burn, picking up path again along forest edge back to car. Good walk but no views due to clagcarole engel19/10/2022

Solo from Milton of Clova car park. Anti-clockwise loop so I could get the road section done as a long walk-in rather than a long walk back out. Good paths/tracks pretty much up to the summit, but was in the clag above 600m so no real views. Peat bog between The Goet and Green Hill but not too bad, and the descent back down from Green Hill was via good paths by Loch Brandy down to the hotel. Total time 3h 40min.mproudfoot06/08/2022

With David Alexander. Parked at NO 352715 (9:05) and walked up the WNW side of the plantation to join the track after about 1 km. This track now leads all the way to the bothy at the S end of Loch Wharral; the path up the hill starts at the prominent cairn near to the road. We took a branch rightwards up to the cairn at the SW end of the plateau and thence to the summit (11:10). Descended westwards around the rim of the corrie NW of the loch and down to the bothy for the return along the track. Finished 13:30. Fine day with good views of Glen Clova, Lochnagar etc.dbb14/05/2022

From Adielinn Plantation. Up and on the good paths and track to Bothy at Loch Wharral which was locked because of misuse. Parked at Adielinn Plantation. Saw 1 large herd of deer between 60-80 head and a smaller herd of about 30. On the ascent cloud was blowing over quickly but from Ben Tirran to the trig pillar about 1.2m visability was all I had. A lot of deep snow. On descent I dropped to Loch Wharral, half frozen and beautiful. Saw 3 others on the hill walking round the Craigs of Loch Wharral. About 30 -40 mountain hares most in their white coats were having fun on thesnow covered slopes down to the Loch.LizzieG02/03/2014

Cairngorm Club Bus meet. With a fellow member. From the car park at the end of the Glen Esk road. We walked along the track on the north side of Loch Lee and up the glen past Falls of Unich and Falls of Damff to a ruined building where the path ends. We followed a burn to the summit of Muckle Cairn before joining another path. We left it to go over White Hill (855m) to reach the summit of Ben Tirran (The Goet). We then headed for Green Hill where we met some other club members. We walked together round the rim above Loch Brandy to the Snub. We had time in hand so we decided on an extension to Boustie Ley, descending via Ben Reid. Weather was excellent.pwbellarby06/10/2002

Direct descent from Clova Hotel to Green Hill from the shore of Loch Brandy (waves), then over to Ben Tirrian. First day on hills this trip so I snubbed The Snub but I needn't have worried about the snow-only on the plateau was it ice/crust. Delightful and very quick down to Loch Whirral, disturbing dozens of Mountain Hares. I then went to follow a very obvious stakers path- zig zags to Inchdowrie- but this had gone to seed and the surface had been taken over by bog. The gate to the road was nearer Clova than Inchdowrie, involving a nice walk though birch covered moraines containing lchans and then pasture. That was 1998- I bet there's a bulldozed track now? A few showers befor 1400 hrs, glorious sunny, windy after.pwheeler17/04/1998

With James Bellarby. From the roadside in Glen Clova. Up the path and then to a cairn marked on map S of the main summit of Ben Tirran. On to the main summit. Descent was more towards the loch before joining the outward route. Much hard snow with some ice. Frost at all levels. A beautiful day with clear skies.pwbellarby31/01/1987
