Lots of deep peat-hags but mostly dry in the bottom. Choice of wellies was a good idea. Coming from east, a poorish grass track up to peat cuttings got me almost to where the trig point could be seen. Hags out to high point could have been worse!!Kiltie06/09/2022
Parked at a gate at HU33087 47437. Along the track to Sand Water, then up towards the col and over peaty ground to the summit. Returned via the trig point back to the track.LizH21/08/2021
22 mins up 14 back at a run from west squeezed into an unexpected extended school lunch break at Walls with a following free period (as the PE teacher had turned up to take the bairns). I was joined by two honking Graylag geese who flew big lazy circles around me 5 or 6 times keeping about 50 metres away but moving along with me - occasionally changing their lead. Made it back to school with time to wash the worst of the sweat off, change and even have a quick sandwich before afternoon class.Chris Pearson21/04/2021
At the third gate it will be time to head up to the trig.Chris Peart17/06/2019
Parked in field next to Briar Cottage with farmer’s permission to east of hill. Along track to burn and then cut up onto hill. Hill needs renaming to Peat Hill as no sign of sand. Came back down to Sand Water and stayed out of Martin’s ditch. Little difference in the two routes.Campbell Singer16/06/2019

From the W, roadside pull-in at HU 2976 4884. Variable cattle track to HU 3068 4830 then direct to hilltop. On to the trig pillar.jonglew09/06/2019

Circular from road near Laidie Hill. Local farmer advised that Black & Red Throated Divers have been seen on lochan @ SU309490 (insufficient time to investigate).Smudge29/05/2013

Track that starts at HU331477 is initially useful but turns into a ditch. Ditch the ditch and make a more direct line after the third gate. Might as well visit the trig point too. Not the most exciting hill, but the views and birdlife compensate.Martin R01/05/2012
