Linear walk with Adrian from Eddleston to Innerleithen taking in 12 hills (only 9 on HB). Walked out to the other 600m contour to the NE to record 603m, so the 2 tops are very close in height. 22km / 1020m ascent. | jonglew | 31/03/2024 |
Hiked from lower car park as Buzzards Nest car park's closed. Lots of huts being built there so some paths are closed too. I couldn't find a map of the forest showing walking routes and bike routes so spent the hike dodging bikes. Gorgeous snowy walk with trees sheltering from the worst of the winter weather. | SootAndShale | 02/12/2023 |
4/8 A long walk from Innerleithen. Lee Pen, Black Knowe, Clog Knowe ridge, then along edge of forest to access Dunslair Heights by a Forest ride leading straight to it. Then down and up bike tracks to Shieldgreen Kips, back to pick up track round to Lamb Law (ducking under trees for this one), then Cardon Law and Whiteside Edge. Then walked gradually down to the Bike visitor centre and bus back to town from Glentress. About 20 miles. | nickywood1 | 03/09/2023 |

From lower car park (286405) as Buzzards Nest closed. Good access trails with D.Dave to disused mast. | bolton | 31/01/2023 |
Forest roads from Falla Brae car park. Buzzards Nest car park currently closed. Very expensive to park in the forest car parks (£6 all day, £4 for 3 hours). There is only one disused mast on the summit. With bolton. | Dangerous Dave | 31/01/2023 |
Through forest from Eshiels Hope car park - return via Soonhope Craig. | callumorr | 21/01/2023 |
Via a network of tracks and paths from road near Innerleithen Lodge, avoiding MTBs. Via Shield Green Kipps. Aerial and comms hut and bench at summit. Forest views. Continued SE to Black Law along forest boundary, avoiding wind- felled trees by using grassy path on East of wall. MTB track well and truly blocked by tree fall. | Denise | 19/06/2022 |
From col to NW on the stony MTB path keeping a watchful eye out for cyclists but met none. Summit is disturbed ground with mast and small building. No access issues. Views limited by forest. | RichardM | 19/06/2022 |
Park at start of private road to Leithen Lodge. Mainly road to just before crossing of Leithen Water then a good and easy track to just below forest, more or less south of summit mast. Look for section of newish wooden fencing in what is otherwise a wire fence. This leads straight to a break in the forest and to the summit track within sight of the masts. Make a note of exit point from forest for return, not easy to spot otherwise! | dickscroop | 21/02/2022 |
Parking at start of private road (NT329423), Leithen Water to Williamslee, W up forest track to Sherra Law, Dunslair Heights, MTB track (FP non-existant) to NT284442 then FP through heather to Shieldgreen Kipps, return to NT284442 then FP into forest, dramatic change from rough heather to delightfull green dell, but short lived as soon turned into a morass churned by MTBs, down forest tracks to S of Lamb Law, where an unmapped green track leads down to Craighope. | Isbjorn | 15/11/2021 |
From road end Leithen Lodge. Up past the lodge and track to summit, heavy showers fine use of umbrella. Quiet until summit mountain bikers up from Glentress. | N.Morters | 08/08/2021 |
Repeat visit en route between Shieldgreen Kipps and Clog Knowe. | PGCE | 14/03/2021 |
Quiet and easy walk up from Leithen Water glen. Dunslair Heights, Shieldgreen Kipps, Black Law trig and top, Black Knowe, Lee Pen and down to Innerleithen. With B and R. | jenx | 11/10/2020 |
Buzzard's Nest Car Park at NT 2774 4113 (£5 a day) - NNW along track for about 300m, turned right & then first left up to fork at 277417 - Forked right & up track to summit by leg D of mast. Continued to Shieldgreen Kipps, Cardon Law & Whiteside Edge. (S) | gerrybowes | 26/08/2020 |
From east, Leithen Water. Obvious track up hill, then over wooden railings and along old firebreak direct to summit. | PGCE | 02/07/2020 |
From Kirn Law, tried to follow the wall N, but lots of fallen trees meant we went down to the bike track, then steeply up a narrow bike track back to the shoulder of the hill. A mix of walking in the forest, bike tracks and wall following from there to the summit. Returned following bike trails to eventually join the main forest track back to the car park. | LizH | 22/12/2019 |
Circuitous zig zag tracks from South | vegibagger | 09/07/2019 |
By mtn bike, after Cardon Law, easily from the roads to the east. Followed the black trail SE hoping for Clog Knowe (Black Law), but the 2nd puncture of the day put paid to that. Limped back by inflating tyre every 3/4 minutes. | Minto | 07/07/2019 |
From Buzzards Nest car park by a mixture of forest roads and mountain bike trails. | NormanW | 05/07/2019 |
