2nd of 3 on a traverse from Waun Fawr to Carmel. Easy walk from Moel Smytho and perfect situation to view the higher ranges. Interesting plaque about how important this area was for Glaciation theory. Charles Darwin has climbed this hill too. After lunch and coffee I continued towards to Mynydd Y Cilgwyn.... | Dazingdale | 23/09/2023 |

With Martin, Tom, Rafi, Rory, Adam, & Corwyn. Very windy & cold, with occasional hail showers. From Moel Smytho. Descent to Y Fron (for the tea shop!) involved hail to the face. Continued via Nantlle & southern side of Llyn Nantlle Uchaf to reach Drws-y-coed. | millionmts | 07/04/2022 |
Our second summit of the day, again following Gerry Bowes log- including the easy parking spot this time. The rock, including the summit block, is facinating and a discrete sign board just below explains the geology, industry and Darwin associations. We then continued on good paths to Moel Smytho and retraced to an old rail trackbed for an easy, fast descent round the NW slopes of Moel Tryfan to the car- welcome as the rain had set in on our way back. A good 3 mile walk. | pwheeler | 14/03/2022 |

Easy parking at end of minor road to W. at SH 5510 5625 - Up stone track for about 50m to first bend & then up obvious gassy path to trig point & summit pinnacle; interesting to note that Charles Darwin stood on the same spot back in 1842. His work here helped to establish that the marine deposits on the summit were the result of glacial activity & not the debris of the great Biblical Flood - Information board below NE side of pinnacle.
