From Buttington canalside car park/picnic benches, lane to Rhallt Farm, more or less on RoW to HP from where we studied the trig pt knoll through binoculars. The RoW essentially obliterated by spoil from building or track construction for about the lower 200 m, otherwise good. Decent visibility on a hot sunny day after drive from Warwick in hazy conditions. With Petepwheeler09/09/2023
Canal-side CP near McDonalds and along the road towards Rhallt Farm. Before a new build mansion we took the nettle-strewn ROW up to the summit and on to the Trig. Returned down a grassy farm track to Yr Allt and then minor road to Spout House and van.summitter31/08/2023
From canal CP, up road then FP to top, then past mast to visit trig.PeterD01/04/2023
Walked from welshpool along canal to buttington. Turned left on minor road for about half a mile. Turn right up fp along fence line across field to Arial then down and up to trig point. Carried on along ridge and tuned off down fp to canal and romped back home. Walked with MCW.Woolly Hattie22/01/2023
Up from canal carpark. Suitable for 6 cars. Then up the bridle way via reservoir to trig pillar. Back via mast and HUMP summitcjo28/05/2022
Parked at canal car park, Buttington, straight forward walk, between storm Dudley and storm Eunice. SoloPjb10017/02/2022

From canal car park. Up road and ROW.PGCE22/08/2020
Parked at the canal car park, across the bridge and up the minor road to the RoW at SJ 23757 09378, just before the large new house, the stile and sign a bit hidden in the hedge line. Up the path and over a stile to the fields, and along to the summit. Good viewpoint over Welshpool and surrounding hills.LizH20/08/2020
Small canalside car park just off roundabout at SJ 2416 0891 - Up road & then stone track to large water storage tank - Over padlocked gate & then sharp right up ATV track towards mast - Just before mast, through pedestrian gate & then about 35m to unmarked summit. Descended SSW on waymarked RoW. (S)gerrybowes20/01/2020
A quick training run for a later 25 miler. 10km circuit from home in Welshpool over the top of Yr Allt (I've summited here heaps before), along the ridge, down to Pool Quay and back along the canal. Glorious weather. Steep but simple and rewarding walk.Cangarwbach20/04/2019
Walked up here on a sunny February afternoon. Walked up from the north, then followed the path southward to Welshpool. Nice hill with views of the Brieddens to the east and several other hills to the west. Trig point at the north end, but the true summit is nearer the transmitter to the south.brandybordeaux25/02/2019
Parked on road next to the small muddy car park. Up the lane to the narrow ROW which runs alongside a wide track in the process of being surfaced with rocks. I walked on the grass alongside it to SJ 24110 09785 where it was easy to step over the fence and head directly to the summit. To get to the trig follow the fence line to a stile then NW to it. On return I followed the ROW into the forest but soon climbed back onto the easier adjacent track which met the road next to the ROW.Jim.Fothergill19/09/2018
With Cabe. Car park is just off roundabout at edge of Welshpool by the canal. It is marked on the map as a picnic spot. Others description not very helpful! Then up lane and across ROW.simon and co30/03/2018
Solo. I'm working one day a week off n Trallwng so am trying to make the most of the petrol there. Popped up ye allt from building site to south. Thought it would be a jaunt but was actually quite a a dramatic ascent. Popped to old summit by trig and hovered around true summit by mast. Some sort of slate path is being built.tumpawumpa03/10/2017

As part of round circular walk from Welshpool over both Longmountain tops. 40 mins up and down from canal bridge at Buttington Cross via Rhalt Farmtrimarc201/10/2015
Bagged from the doorstep of the local hill sleuth. I was merciful on the poor chap as we made the long but steady ascent from the canal at Pool Quay. We had a nice long butty break beside the trig enjoying the fine view to the north before heading to the actual summit for the serious survey work. All that remained was an easy stroll back down to Welshpool and then a confusing evening with regard to Moelwyn Mawr's mountain status!!??!!Alex C07/08/2015
Hasn't even realised there was a hump summit here. Came specifically for the nearby trig with 4755 on the flush bracket because it's the birthday numbers of a friend who'll be60 on 4th July this year, so I wanted to make a cast of the flush bracket to make some sort of art work birthday pressie. Only while up there did I notice higher ground nearby and check it out on the website. Delightful sunny Saturday afternoon jaunt that made me and son Jamie late for the footie match Shrewsbury v York that had catalysed the trip here in the first place.vegibagger18/04/2015
As destaylor.Chris Peart15/07/2014
Long hike from MP's house. First north along Shropshire Union Canal to lock near Pool Quay, then by RoW onto and along ridge to trig point and unmarked summit, then down steeply to lane and back to canal. Mixed winter weather.Man of Kernow107/12/2012
Up road from little car park.clivevilla08/07/2012
With Minnie from parking area Buttington Cross along Montgomery canal to Pool Quay up field paths to trig then top by mast, slightly better views from trig, overcast light rain shower but warm.apricorum03/07/2012
Parked by the canal for a longer work for my seventh HuMP of the day. I agree with CW, but correction has been applied since I printed off my data.Dugswell226/02/2012
From the canalside car park at ButtingtonSprog25/02/2012
a nice little circuit from pool quay using quiet lanes, public footpaths and the canal towpath. trig point is a wee bit poorly, having lost a corner off her head. splendid views.stig_nest15/10/2011
An obvious ascent and easy summit.JohnStoneham31/07/2011
As Chris points out the summit is not the spot height near trig pt. So destined to be another example of yer allteredMartin R06/05/2011
Eventually climbed from canal at Buttington as parking up Rhallt road proved impracticable. Up by track and back by footpath. Summit is actually on path near mast(230m contour)rather than near the trig point as currently recorded.chriswatson04/05/2011
Parked at end of minor road to SW. Follow track leaving the water building to your right - avoids the barbed wire. Pleasant stroll.destaylor16/03/2011
Parked at Spout House. Uphill on stony access track, past the last farm to a water tank, over a fence to a mast. Used GPS to find trig 4755. 11.30. Cloud to 1,000'arranc10/09/2010
