HP at trig in small clearing in mature plantation. Accessed from NE boundary fence- easy grass to walk on. Around the forest from track. . At smallboulder on south side of fence follow small path into firebreak , then straight line SW to trig, which is at HP. Sunny. | Denise | 26/02/2024 |
From field to NNE, easy mossy trod through the well-spaced trees crossing cuttings with lines of brash. Mossy/grass clearing in Sitka spruce forest a little heather & bilberry. Trig pillar at high point. Sunshine, warm in the shelter or the forest. | RichardM | 26/02/2024 |
As gerrybowes except: with some forest thinning the firebreak to the trig pt has strips of brash in 4-5 rows where there were trees. Not too bad to cross and the trig area is still clear. On return we went the few m. to the loop in the track in high pasture. This gave a good surface and one of the best views of the holiday- into the Nant-y-moch baisin with the crags of Craig y pistyll in the foreground. With Pete. | pwheeler | 15/09/2023 |
Along fence from RoW to ESE. After prominent rocks outside forest fence, head in from elongated boulder lying just inside the. From here penetrate the first trees and the path becomes obvious. | Moorponder | 24/06/2022 |
As others. Easy parking in wide entrance to forest track at SN 7024 8417 & up track to top of forest - Along fence line to rock by fence which marks the entry point into old firebreak at SN 70751 84528 (impossible to spot) - After first 20m or so, fairly straightforward to trig point in clearing. Parked by junction to SE. Banc y Garn from the N, as others. Then onto Banc Lletty Ifan Hen. | PGCE | 08/02/2021 |
Banc y Garn and Banc Llety Ifan Hen from the car park at 710838. Fairly obvious route approaching Banc y Garn from the north but it is important to note the GR where the path leaves the open land at SN 70751 84528 as it is not easy to spot. | clivevilla | 20/07/2020 |
Great little path (marked by a rock) from fence line to the north that looks as if it's been pruned recently. | Wycombe Wanderer | 30/12/2019 |
path into forest, see large stone by fence. | Adrian | 06/12/2017 |

With Alex C, from the road. Good forest track through to N edge of conifer plantation; followed fence line along to SN 70751 84528 where a weakness in trees revealed the narrow track through to trig and HP. | jonglew | 05/11/2016 |
From Pendam. Last 200 yards through dense conifers. O.S. column in small clearing | jim pererin | 04/07/2015 |
As Mark T - the trees were not too bad. | Chris Peart | 24/10/2014 |
Parked at junction between lane and forest road at SN 70243 84171 - room for 2-3 cars. Took forest road north-east to gate, then followed Des Taylor's recommended route - you need his waypoints to be successful. Way to firebreak obscured by a single line of trees which you can easily push through. Way to summit clearing more difficult, but once past initial 'fir wall' at Des' waypoint a slight gap in the plantation makes a little easier going to trig point in clearing. Returned the same way. With AT and JT on a day of good weather. | Man of Kernow1 | 16/02/2014 |

Tal-y-bont to Goginan. OS aerial view shows thin line of weakness direct from SN707845 - start opposite main fence post 10yds E of ridge top. Some of the encroaching branches have now been pruned back making for relatively easy passage for the time being. | Smudge | 02/03/2013 |
As Jarvis Cocker sings 'Those trees, those useless trees'. I would happily never walk in a plantation ever again. | Martin R | 28/08/2011 |
another tree fighting adventure. i must buy some body aemour. Take the forestry track to SN 70654 84587 and then go through the trees. They are only 1 deep and you will then see a high ridge which you follow to SN 70642 84415. From here push east through | DARRENG | 13/06/2011 |
Semi impenetrable 15' pines. Parked to SE. Path NE to clear the forest then up by fence. Just beyond 70654 84587 is a ridge. Follow to 70642 84415 where weakness in trees - only 15m to do. Took some finding that!! Very pleased. | destaylor | 14/04/2011 |
