Logged Descriptions  (logged by 47 users)ByDate of Ascent
Another walk more or less as gerrybowes, but we did the S top first. We walked right round to the N side of the N top before spotting a line with almost no brash- it gave a mostly mossy ascent with few obstacles to get round and it was easy to avoid all obstacles following almost the same line back. Any alternatives spotted were quickly dismissed. A dull day, cloud lowering with drizzle after this walk, as we drove over to Lampeter.pwheeler16/09/2023
Easy parking at side of forest track entrance at SN 7054 7298 - NE up track for about 200m & then easily over brash between remaining trees to summit. Also did S. Top. Up road & then along track for about 300m - Up over brash to the power line pole & a short walk to summit. (S)gerrybowes29/10/2021
Parked at entrance to forest. Visited both tops: N one now has a line of brashings running N-S over it as a result of recent thinning.PGCE08/02/2021
Both S and N tops visited but no line of sight between,so hard to say. S top is felled, HP over short section of brash near telegraph pole. N top accessed through mature pines- looked bad but actually short distance with little understorey and firm moss floor. HP indistinct but ground fell away from all sides.Denise 07/10/2020
S Top easy access just off forest road in felled forest. High point 35m S of power line pole. The possibly higher N summit is more challenging but reasonable through spindly moss coated pines, lots of fungi on forest floor, no views.RichardM07/10/2020
Brilliant views from here now the trees have gone.Alex C26/08/2020
Timber felled. An easy walk up track onto debris to the top.Moorponder16/07/2019
Simple walk to summit, then on to alternative summit in dense forestry (not too demanding)RobertP15/12/2017
Probably slightly easier to go along field edge (than along forest track) to telegraph pole then up fire break and left a few yards into not very dense forestclivevilla24/04/2017
Easy going to the main top, from the forest road to its north, through a bit of forest. Also went to the north top (SN 70554 73221). I did this from the forest road to its east and went down to the north. This was a bit more difficult than the main top. Alan Moore07/04/2017
From the start of the forest track north of the summit at SN 70686 72981. Visited the north summit first - a tree thrash, but not too tricky, as a forest track passes c.130m from it. Then the south summit - very easy. Solo.Man of Kernow103/04/2017

As per DARRENG. Also visited Pen y Bryn-Mawr on N side of road where GPS gave 2m higher elevation. No knowing which is higher due to forest.jonglew14/10/2015
Both likely summits easily bagged.Dugswell209/09/2015
Both tops - one either side of road. No parking or access problems.mae19/08/2015
An easy walk - visited the alternative summit too.Chris Peart24/10/2014
As per DARRENG. Simplesk! Red kite on return.arranc29/07/2014
Llanilar to Tynygraig. Approached from the Trawsgoed estate & visited the larger 340m ring, Pen y Bryn-mawr, which lies in denser but not impregnable forestry.Smudge08/03/2014
Trees with an overhead cable to add excitementMartin R27/08/2011
Parked to the NE. Followed track into the forest until you come to the overhead cables. Go up the firebreak and just in the wood is the top. Very quiet and eerie in there.DARRENG10/07/2011
Parked easily to NW. Mature pines. Followed track then left up a fire break. Summit off fire break near a wooden electricity pylon.destaylor14/04/2011
