Circular overnight route from Coire na Ciste car park. Sunny and warm conditions with excellent visibility. Followed path heading NE contouring round hillside, eventually climbing to join ridge leaving a short distance to climb and reach Creag nan Gall. Continued to Stac na h-Iolaire and camp near pt737. Inversion in the morning, and continued (missing Sron a' Cha-no) to Cnap Coire na Spreidhe and summit of Cairn Gorm. Along northern corries to Fiacaill a' Choire Chais, Stob Coire an t-Sneachda, Cairn Lochan. Descended to Fiacaill na Leth-choin (barely a top) and the impressively located Creag an Leth-choin [Lurcher's Crag]. Over Creag an Leth-choin North Top and descended to SW end of Chalamain Gap, taking a good path to Creag a' Chalamain. Descended via Airgiod-meall to return to start.RobertP31/05/2023

If 5 is a crowd on a summit then full tour coach tour group was just too much so I took my snaps from mid way between the weather station and the cairn. The path back to the top of the railway is horrible, very hard on the feet after a longish day.Trantham Clan25/05/2023

From the Ski center car park at 10.30am ... 3.5 hours there and back via Windy Ridge ... Windy Ridge was as expected quite windy! ... Clear and dry to start with turning to rain and mist halfway up ... No real views from the summit ... The poor visibility and rain discouraged our intended walk from Cairn Gorm to Ben Macdui, and we called that off for the day and returned to the Ski centre.R & K03/08/2022

From the base at Cairngorm ski centre, we headed out west and south to the base on the Fiacaill Coire An T-Sneachda. This fantastic grade 1 scramble gives amazing veiws over both the Cories an Lochain and T-Sneachda. The scramble was great at times, with climbing moves and very exposed! Once up on Cairn Lochan, we strode out along the plataue, stopping once for some lunch, and made our way up the last ascent to Ben MacDui, the 2nd highest Munro! After taking in the panorama, we b-lined strait towrds the north top, and dropped down to the edge around Loch Avon. Down this side, there were huge patches of snow, we ran, jumped and skied down, we even saw a ski tourist! Coutining round the ridge towards Stob Coire An T-Sneachda, we had to pass a snow birdge, which Jonny broke, and the others had to walk further up! From Fiacaill A' Choire Chais, we had the last 100m shoot up to Cairn Gorm; #7. Some more food, then a long slog down to the top of the Cairngorm Funiculair Mountain Hut, and finByronHaywood20/04/2019

Re-climbed as last time I took the funicular. This time I did the round of Bynack Mor & A'Choinneach and Cairn Gorm from Glenmore Lodge. The return was a trudge. Total distance 17 miles in 7 hours 30 minutes. Great day and glad I did Cairngorm properly it deserved better. The South side of the hill is better!!!isabelle22/06/2016

Glenmore- Ryvoan- Bynack Stable- Bynack More- A' Choinneach- The Saddle (Loch Avon)- Cairngorm- Fiacaill a' choire Chais- Glenmore. From The Saddle above Loch Avon. Instead of Storer's suggested direct assault, we used the thin, slanting path towards Cnap Coire na Spreidhe to get us up the steepest ground, when the slope eased, we went up directly to Cairngorm, for a while with Ptarmigan walking alongside us. Huge snow patches; cloud enveloped us when we were on the summit- the first time in 6 mountain days. The W was still fine, we could make out Knoydart's Sgor na Ciche bathed in sunshine. So we descended fairly directly- a messy route scarred by ski development. With brother, Pete.pwheeler28/05/1994

Various ascents of these hills. This one solo on a clear day from ski car park via Sron an Aonaich to Cairn Gorm. Picked off tops as far as Cairn Lochan & the across the plateau to Ben Macdui. Dropped E & collected Derry Cairngorm & tops & then on to Loch Etchachan & up to Beinn Mheadhoin & its tops. Had a look at the Shelter Stone, rounded the loch & slogged up Coire Raibert, passed underneath Cairn Gorm & used the unsightly track back to the car park. Repeated this round with Shaky on 29/8/05.NotReallyABagger12/09/1989

Part of the training for the Scottish Mountain Leadership Training Board Winter award based at Glen Mor Lodge. 4 in party (3 candidates + Glen Mor Lodge Instructor). The previous day we three candidates had dug a snow hole, which we spent the night in. During the night we had set an alarm so that every 1½ hours one of us would get up to dig out the entrance to ensure there was always an airway. Snow was continually blowing into the hole. We climbed over the summit of Cairn Gorm and down to the road. It was exceedingly windy so progress was a matter of crouching down when conditions were fiercest and making a dash when one could. The weather station on Cairn Gorm recorded a steady wind speed of 75mph with gusts up to 93mph for the period we were going over the summit.pwbellarby24/03/1989

On a 3 day Winters Skills course at Glenmore Lodge. led by Andy Cunningham. Today was navigation practice on the Cairngorm plateau- unfortunately it was a perfect day ! with superb visibility, no wind and lovely dazzling sunshine on glistening white snowy hills (got a suntan!) - you could see for miles - no good for testing typical Cairngorm navigation of white outs and blizzards. Took lots of great photos(slides). Summit weather station all iced over. We had used the chairlift to reach the top cafe (Ptarmigan restaurant). I was given the 1st navigation leg from cafe to Cairngorm summit!Chris Pearson08/04/1986
