6 of 6 from the HP of the Adamthwaite road.robertphillips26/11/2023
Solo from parking area at Rawthey Bridge, via Narthwaite. I reckon the best ascent is from the point in the PF “nose” at SD 70216 98059. From here it’s a gradual ascent to the summit following, what looks like, a little used vehicle track. I descended this way. I ascended by a stream opposite Mountain View. A cairn makes the summit obvious.ADT25/11/2023

from Harter Fell via minor road to Adamthwaite, then S along bridleway and up the E flank. Return down S ridge and via paths parallel to A683.IanHHill06/07/2022
Cross Keys > Ben End > Yarlside > Saddle > Kensgriff > Spen Gill > Wandale Hill > Narthwaite > Cross Keys. Just Me and H. Parked about 1Km up the road from the cross Keys due to inconsiderate parking. Beautiful spring day with a nice cooling breeze, didn't cross paths with another walker all day but saw a few from distance.johnkaysleftleg07/05/2022

With Sue from Cross Keys, over bridge to Narthwaite crossing ford before the farm. Passing through farm and straight up s shoulder to summit of Wandale Hill. Very windy and wet, dropped s to stile and walked NE to ruined farm with what looked like headstones in foot print for lunch and respite from weather. Returned by path/track to Narthwaite. Looked for bridge that no longer there so re crossed ford(deeper) to Cross Keys and hot coffee.Frank26/10/2021
Parked above Adamthwaite farm at NY71298 00441. Walked towards the farm, then right on a track before the farm gate, and along towards the cattle shed. ROW went through a field of cows, calves and a bull, so carried on along the vehicle track before cutting across awkward long grass, across the stream and up easy short grass to the summit. Crossed the west end of the field to a gate on the return.LizH09/08/2021

Roadside verge parking (NY 7115 0024), could probably have parked closer, but this way not blocking anything. Crossed the stream at SD 7060 9971, after which just a trot up the hill; one new fence to negotiate above the saplings. 45 min round trip in wind and rain.jonglew08/12/2018

From Cross Keys, old road to Narthwaite was pleasant, then straight up S ridge- there's a gate on this at the access land; followed ROW back, via Wandale- a scrappy fp. Part walking, part running to bag this neglected hill.pwheeler22/07/2018

Wandale Hill from GR: NY 71085 00175ronaldo33323/03/2018
No parking at farm. Very boggy bridal way on north side then a grassy plod in the mist.jenx23/10/2017
With Jenx and Bryher, what Jen meant was the farmer when asked said 'no parking here, go up the road outside gate there's a car park' grumpily. On return I checked and it's public road to the farm and then a Byway for 85yds to bridge, which should allow parking. There was a red car parked there already. We went from up the road, found verge parking at 7115 0023 just outside gate and used the higher track to access hill, bridleway heading West was a real mess once off path, cut down to beck and through new plantings. Gate in top right corner, soggy fell thereafter.nordicstar23/10/2017
With K from Randy Gill Top. Returned to Cross Keys pub via Narthwaite farm. Paths very boggy at Narthwaite and there is no bridge on the 'A Pennine Journey' LDP over the Backside Beck at 700 976.Ashley09/10/2017

5.2 mile walk on easy terrain from Cross Keys, walked up through Narthwaite farm and onto Wandale Hill, then descended west easily forded Backside Beck where it joins Spen Gill, then climbed up to Kensgriff across Saddle and scrambled up to Yarlside, one we've been meaning to do since 2012, descended Ben End back to Cross Keys, hot and sunny, now bagged every east Howgills hill.DanTrig17/08/2016

From summit of minor road near Adamthwaite - good parking. Grere Fell, Green Bell, Hooksey, Randygill Top, Wandale Hill (do not descend directly towards Wandale Hill as the streams are in deep gorges - far easier to return part way along the ridge to Stockless then contour and descend to the east of Spen Gill), Harter Fell.ijpowell10/07/2014
Circular Hannon walk from Handley's Bridge(farmer correctly said no right of way over bridge and complained about Mr.Hannon).Good views throughout on cloudy day. With Peter.catman03/05/2014

It makes sense to combine this hill with Harter Fell just to the north east. If this is your plan park at the summit of the Adamthwaite road then take in Harter Fell first (an easy wander over quite benign ground. You can them drop down on access land to the road north of A'thwaite where you can pick up the bridleway round the farm, cross the stream and head straight up the open access to the summit. A 4 mile, 2 hour round trip.moorsman08/03/2014
