With Ted from Forestry Car Park. Visited outcrops close to reservoir and trig point. | Jim T | 14/03/2024 |
Parked at the forest CP and decent paths t follow Top n Trig. The Trig summit is the far more impressive, shame the views are restricted with the trees | matty1971b | 13/03/2024 |
Parked at the end of the forest tracks to the W. Up the track with the metal gate, leaving it on a bike track after about 170m, crossed the next track and into the rough vegetation at SE21054 51464. Very short distance to the heathery/mossy high point. Went on to follow various tracks through the woods to the trig point tor. Peter climbed up to the trig point, but I stayed on the ground! | LizH | 18/11/2023 |
From CP, following various tracks to the compound, followed by a trek through the brush to the top. then another thrash/trek to the path before heading off to the trig. This was worth the trip being perched on top of a tor, that was some effort to climb. | Andrew Pearson | 18/02/2023 |
Unsatisfactory, but somewhere in pines near fenced reservoir- various lumps visited. Trig also visited via a myriad of forest paths. Surprisingly delightful with sporting scramble to rocky Tor summit with trig on top. Views above trees from trig. | Denise | 28/01/2023 |
Top n Trig. The Trig summit is the far more impressive of the two. | summitter | 12/12/2022 |
Decent parking (SE208515). Tk E up to mast and reservoir. Paths encircle the hill and mast | Isbjorn | 27/08/2022 |
From the pull-in @ SE 2086 5153. Of no great merit other than it is a HuMP tick. | summitsup | 07/05/2022 |
From car park on road bagging the trig also . | Haygalzer | 15/03/2022 |
Parked at the end of the track at 20874 51527, up the track then a right and a tramp about just off the track to find the summit. | clivevilla | 11/03/2022 |
3 of 3: Parked at the forest entrance at 208515. Been very close to the trig before on the Little Alms Cliff Crag path. With Karen. | ChrisR | 18/10/2021 |
Up track to mast turn right to reservoir style gate and head into trees here found the high spot using grid reference and did feel like top but no view | nickywood1 | 17/08/2021 |
Parked to WNW, along track towards mast along a smaller track and then in to trees to HP not far from mast perimeter. Visited a couple of mounds in the trees that could be HP. Also went on to trig and enjoyed climb to reach it. | PeterD | 30/06/2021 |
Quick detour to the summit while doing the Paul Hannon 14km circular walk from Little Alms Cliff (SE 236 522), with Jayne and Josh. | silveracorn_alan | 07/10/2020 |
KF Visited on way back to the car from the Lindley Moor trig. | crazy | 01/09/2020 |
Its getting very overgrown around the summit. Good path to the trig point and a scramble up to it. Solo. | bolton | 30/06/2020 |
Short walk from park area. | rhalstead | 25/06/2020 |
Forest car park. Found the top and enjoyed climbing to the trig. | PGCE | 18/05/2020 |
Solo. From Stainburn Moor Forestry Commission car park. The trig pt seemed higher to me. | ADT | 08/03/2020 |
Parked to the West by forest entrance SE208515. | David Evans | 25/11/2019 |
5 of 5 on 44 mile bike ride including tinshill moor, billing hill, baildon hill, askwith moor and Lindsey moor. No one around so jumped the fence | The-Z-Man | 20/03/2019 |
Also visit the trig which seemed higher than everything else (?) | BaggerGutt | 17/12/2018 |
Walked round the enclosure and assessed where the highest point was. Eventually shown the trig point by two other walkers, but decided not to attempt to climb to it. Pleased to find later that the trig is not the highest point. | JohnW | 30/09/2018 |
The forest is taking over! Pity the trig pillar, on the superb rock tor, does not mark the hill summit. | ger | 17/09/2018 |
As David Gradwell. Parking area by entrance to forest tracks at SE 20876 51527 - Up vehicle track towards mast for about 200m & then turned right & along stone track for about 50m - Made way up through vegetation to small bilberry-covered summit mound, alongside which lies a couple of lengths of old duckboard. Good path to trig point which was bagged, thanks to the assistance of a local boulderer who loaned me his pads. (S) | gerrybowes | 11/09/2018 |
Drove over via A59 after doing Round Hill and completed area 35B by walking round paths and track, first anticlockwise then clockwise to be sure of the HP. Still only 40 mins. An isolated buddleia on a forest track had 30+ Peacock butterflies on it- that was, to be honest, the highlight. | pwheeler | 23/07/2018 |
W Jenx and Bryher from roadside CP, following track clockwise, visited HP nr mast then trig area, looked a lot higher, nice little scramble | nordicstar | 02/05/2018 |
Lindley Moor > Lindley Moor trig from GR: SE 20865 51540 | ronaldo333 | 06/04/2018 |
Short walk up comms mast access track from car park. Then into woodland to determine where the HP might be. Walked the perimeter fencing of both comms and water compounds. Fairly sure there was no need to access either to stand on the highest point. Trig pillar much more interesting, easy scramble up onto large boulder where sits the pillar. | jonglew | 07/12/2017 |
The Stainburn Forest car park, marked the 25K map was closed for timber extraction. However, there is room for one car to park on the verge by the car park. We went up through the forest on various tracks and paths before a bash through the trees to get to the summit. With JT. | Sprog | 02/12/2017 |
Actually taken there by the police!!!! Trying to locate the mast visible (on a clear day) from the Whitby to Pickering road. It's this one.

Close to the site of the murder of PC Haigh, the first vistim of Barry Prudoms murders in 1982.

This hill is actually known as Norwood (pronounced Narrad) Edge, the name taken by the transmitter a few metres further on.

Easy parking alongside the road at the west and a very short stroll | moorsman | 21/11/2017 |
15 degrees, overcast. More pleasant woodland than expected, mix of different trees and heather. Bagged the Bing too. | Wycombe Wanderer | 07/09/2017 |
From the nearby car park. | BLACKHILL | 04/02/2017 |
Although I had previously cycled past the hill, only 20m lower than the top, many times and also twice visited the Trig point [1m lower], today I actually went to the proper summit, and to make it a proper ascent, I first walked down to Swinsty reservoir and then back up. | IanHHill | 14/11/2016 |
2/2 Ottley hill bagging day (The Chevin/Lindley Moor) | Fergalh | 21/08/2016 |
With K. Short walk. Saw less common bumblebee Bombus sylvestris near summit. | Ashley | 09/07/2016 |
Inc trig 291 | Archie | 19/06/2016 |
Parked by Stainburn Forest - through the plantation to bag a trig by Langshaw Farm - we then thread through the fields & lanes droping to Lindley bridge - a wood full of bluebells - a promenade along the side of Lindley Wood reservoir the a climb towards the mast and Lingley moor summit above a strange summit once you find amongst the trees - the trig on the other hand is unmistakable standing atop a sandstone tor above the surrounding trees then back through the forestry plantations to find the car. | briandavies | 11/04/2016 |
From parking spot to east at track entrance. Took left hand track then turned right at junction. Look out for start of faint trail through vegetation on left c50m from junction. It leads to the highest point. (If you reach the locked gate of small reservoir compound you've missed it.) Also visited trig pillar on rock tor, well worth it. Saw a pair of Red Kites on way back to car. They have a stronghold on the Harewwod Estate about 8 miles SE so there's always a good chance of seeing them. | David Gradwell | 02/10/2015 |
Leader with 16th Harrogate Beavers. Short age appropriate walk but taking in another for the 50 summits. Had to practice a different group management style for the different age group. Weather fine and clear, had to make sure 'sun caution' was exercised with young charges. | higlett | 23/05/2015 |
Solo. Visited the highest natural point in the conifers, the reservoir & the trig point. I agree with Aye Jimmy :- One of the best trig points in Yorkshire! | Dangerous Dave | 28/03/2015 |
With Jo, from Norwood Edge cp: Lindley Moor, then onto nearby trig and then muddy tracks to Lanshaw Farm trig. Returned along muddy fp from Little Alms Cliff. Weather; high cloud, mild, good visibility. | amblerbob | 14/03/2015 |
From Norwood Edge car park.Hard to find summit now that new trees are growing. No views. With Oscar. | catman | 24/10/2014 |
