From the north Lane Ends. Could have driven further to a space for 3/4 cars. Christmas morning, dry to start, light mizzle on way down.N.Morters25/12/2023
A revisit to formally bag the summit on a beautiful summers evening, I had the hill to myself. /Dmeltdiceburg06/06/2023
From Clow Bridge, joined the Burley Way, then ATV track to trig and HP. Pendle and cloud topped Bowland Fells prominent in view. The ATV track was so muddy we kept just NE of it and picked up a grassy farmer's track to return to the Burnley Way. We visited Hameldon Hill top on the way back. Parking at 814285 now blocked off but it is only a 15 min walk from the good parking (also bus stop) on the A682. With Petepwheeler19/03/2023
From Lane Ends along the various ROWs. Is there any part of Lancashire that was not quarried or industrialised? Muddy near the top.summitter31/10/2022

A beautiful day, chill and bright. Good from the road end at New Laithes. Belted Galloways showed no interest in us or the dog. Both trigs visited.jenx08/01/2019
With Jenx and Bryher from by Clowbridge reservoir, then access road to point below masts. Track to those and the prosaic Burnley way to top. Both trigs collectednordicstar08/01/2019

From road end an New Laithe where there's room to park a couple of cars. Stony track to Hameldon Hill then over frozen moorland to Great Hameldon. Clear skies and a cutting NE wind. Frozen ground 20m E of trig higher than base of trig today (Abney) Freeze effect?RichardM24/02/2018
From layby on A679 to the north by the Burnley Way. Followed this which was wet, boggy and muddy in placesmart079702/02/2018
1st of four hills today on my Topo section R01 completion walk (The South Pennines from Liverpool to Nottinhgam). This walk started at Hapton station (Train from Blackburn) on a cold icy day, walking through village then continuing South on track to quarries, a fp ascends through the quarry workings and I then found a track continuing South towards Hameldon Hill until I arrived at the Trig, at first exploring the high ground to the East as it looked higher than the Trig. I calibrated my GPS at the trig and then wandered around again but still got a higher reading 60m S-East of trig, I got 411m at SD 79462 28913 and SD 79468 28896. Pretty cold and visibility reduced by lower snowy clouds so i continued South-south-west on a defined stony track heading towards Cribden Hill with an empty reservoir to the Nnw. Pretty Stark solitude!Dazingdale10/12/2017
Parked on large pavement next to Hameldon Woods. Enough room for 2/3 cars. Walked through woods on bridle path. Meandered my way up through the crags. From here the summit is obvious, the path isn't. At the top the path down is obvious. Wandered back down the crags the same way I came. 60 mins there and back.Longwojo29/09/2017
From Clowbridge Reservoir car park. Solo. Hameldon Hill/Common & Great Hameldon.ADT02/09/2017
From Lane Ends to north . Followed track ( Burnley Way?)which became path and veered steeply right to back end of quarry and picked up thin boggy path all way to trig . Good views.Mark Sims03/08/2017
Circular walk from Clowbridge Reservoir on a bitter snowy day. Fantastic 360 degree panoramic views of the Lancashire Hills. Nice Chinese restaurant at near the reservoir for a warm meal afterwards.Lazylizzie10/02/2017
K Quick hill fix on an FA Cup weekend heading to Bolton this afternoon. Quarries on N edge of hill are major earthworks.crazy04/12/2016
Easy parking at the final bend on the road north of Stone Fold (OL287 787274) at an altitude of 928ft. This is a public road, though if approaching off the A56 you may need to open a gate. To find the path north, head 50m west from this bend and you will clearly see it leading off the road. Waymarks and signs lead to May Road Well from where a path leads up to the summit. 3.32 miles return 90 minutes, 626ft ascent.moorsman20/10/2016
From the N - the quarry was much more interesting than the summit.Chris Peart17/07/2016

With K. After five hills in mist, it was wonderful when the weather cleared for this. Views to Wales. We parked in layby on dual carriageway - walking along dual carriageway not recommended.Ashley02/05/2016
Dodging trial bikes on the way up to the weather station, otherwise a pretty enjoyable jaunt before dropping down to Burnley and my train home.Alex C19/03/2016

With Jo, from Clow Bridge: Burnley Way (BW) to Hameldon Common Trig, then onto Great Hameldon, returning via Hameldon Scouts Quarry and BW. Weather; cloudy, sunny intervals, mild, good visibility.amblerbob23/05/2015
From the north along Burnley way, then strike off west over very tussocky ground. Back down through quarry & ramp.Warning. Path shown on OS map at 794295 does not exist. Goes over a sheer drop.ngthack18/03/2015

Parked in the car park in Childers Green. Followed Burnley Way then unmarked path to summit. Descended via quarry.Sprog14/04/2013
Marsh thrashing almost all the way. Farmer said that in the annual fell run the winner takes 38 minutes - there and back! I took three hours from a housing estate in Accrington!arranc04/11/2012
From New Laithe road end 2km to east. Followed the Burnley Way then up tussocky grass. return same way at a jog and added the lower 2nd trig of the outing on Hameldon HillChris Pearson19/05/2012
Set off from New High Riley and followed the obvious straight-ish track to the summit. Very wet underfoot after last nights rain, yet bizarrely Hameldon resi was empty. The plug must have come out! Great views to the North from the summit.hillhiker27/04/2012
some cloud, sunny periods, from Dunnockshaw res.joseph mitchell23/07/2011
You will need to engineer a deviation from the Burnley way or The Hynburn Clog to access the peak.Curly & Shirley03/04/2011
Parked at 795305. Went up E side of fence and round the houses and farm buildings then onto the Burnley Way. Took steep track to above the quarry and across pathless wet ground to top. Back E to BW by path.chrisbien02/03/2011
Accrington to Todmorden. Thick mist made for frustrating going. Much better on my second time when climbed from Rawtenstall via Cribden Hill.Jake99431/01/2011
Parked immediately off the main road at 7804 2847. Good track.destaylor11/11/2010
Climbed as part of a geocaching trip. Started out at the parking area on the A679. Not the best of weather today, but still great views from the top. A bit boggy in places.Dan198014/03/2010
Found a geocache by big Wicker here, lovely views and decent paths too, isolated and awesome.PopUpPirate01/03/2010
A boggy ascent from the east, a simple descent through an abandoned quarry to the north. http://mrsts7.wordpress.com/2009/10/mrs_ts731/10/2009
From Clow Bridge track to trig on Hameldon Hill, then boggy continuation to Gt Hameldon, made even more squalid by trail bikes. Trig on top in bog.Aye Jimmy12/10/2008
