Parked in the car park at Dunsop Bridge, walked along metalled bridleway / footpath up Whitendale to about SD 655 536, then headed up S ridge to summit of Middle Knoll, descended steeply down to the east and then to farm at Whitendale. Headed up BW to east then along fence north to Baxton Fell. Retraced route and followed ridge on to Burn Fell Trig, and down towards Beatrix. Then FP east to Rough Syke Barn and up to Boarsden Moor. Down through fields to near Boardsen, FP south and then up very difficult Faber Knoll, surrounded by BWFs!! Finally south across footbridge and back along pleasant permissive road / track to Thorneyholme Hall and Dunsop Bridge. Evening walk to the summit cairn from Dunsop Bridge. Watched the light fade on the descent. Very peaceful.meltdiceburg09/09/2020
After a bivy at Whitendale Hanging Stones, exceedingly steep down Far Pasture Brow then similarly steep up the other side of the valley. Steps and a gap in the wall to the N allow access to the summit. Then down some quad bike tracks to the southernmost corner of the field to a gate.Wheelsy09/08/2020
The quad track start is not at the end of the tarmac as the tarmac has been extended considerably. It would now be better described as just after the high point of the tarmac. Thus we missed the quad track and only spotted it on the return journey. Instead, we followed the line of the wall which is not recommended. Hard going underfoot. With AndyCampbell Singer13/07/2020

From layby at top of Trough Road: Middle Knoll, Whitendale, Wolfhole Crag, Brennand Tarn, Whin's Brow. First time out after lockdown and able to do local walk of more than 1 hour. Ground very dry for this area, mixed cold winds and sun.Lazylizzie16/05/2020

Excellent advice from Simon and Co.The quad bike track might be longer but surely easier than a direct assault. Grand all-round views from summit on a warm autumn day. With Oscar.catman12/10/2019

With Bev. Easy route is take the right hand tarmac road up from road from Dunsop (so east side of hill). At the top of the road there is a rough track to a gate on the left. Go through gate and stick with the quad bike track. It doubles back at first but then follows the ridge line all the way to the summit.simon and co13/11/2018

With SDT from parking area at SD6471250509. We ascended from the west & descended east. It would have been easier if we'd ascended & descended from the east. There's a gate & intermittent track to the summit off the road to Whitendale.ADT21/04/2018

Welcome refreshment stop in village hall at Dunsop Bridge (closest village to centre of Uk as calculated by OS 3 miles NW on moors. Rannulph Fiennes had opened a commemorative 2000th BT phone box here in 1992 to recognise this point). Plod up road with Darren and nice steep S ridge for 8th top of our 9 top circular walk then onto Whins Brow before another night roadside camping in the Trough.Chris Pearson24/07/2016

Cycled from Dunsop Bridge up waterworks road to 653537. Then along footpath to west of hill & straight up. Then on to Baxton Fell.ngthack24/04/2016
A 2.5 mile walk each way from Dunsop Bridge just to reach the hill (it will be of no interest that there is a parking area at the top road junction and the farmers and water board officials don't car if you are in car.) If you bear left here and go though the gate the ascent is severe (and consequently, the drop). Better to turn right and head up the flank whence, after climbing the fence, you will meet a vehicular track to the summit.moorsman22/10/2015

Long walk in from Dunsop Bridge then up a farmer's track to the summit. While on the access land, I found a stile near the summit at N53°59.097' W002°31.729' Probably there to make the gamekeeper's life easier...hillhiker26/04/2013
