From P&D car park in Dunsop Bridge, tarmacked RoW up the Dunsop/Whitendale valley to junction with ATV track at SD 65704 53941 - Up to gate on left & then continued on ATV track which heads W. & then N. up ridge to summit; not obvious where ATV track turns right & heads N. up ridge. Continued to Baxton Fell. | gerrybowes | 21/03/2024 |
Hard slog up NE ridge via Blue Scar. Interesting isolated hill. Down following fence to SE - very steep. | Vulcan | 29/02/2024 |
From Dunsop Bridge. At bridge over R.Brennand, cut up slope to join track on N side of R.Whitendale. Over locked gate at 656538 to avoid taut barbed wire fence. Climbed back towards ridge. Steep descent N by wall. Open gates give easy access to bridleway. | KeithByTheC | 19/07/2023 |

Parked in the car park at Dunsop Bridge, walked along metalled bridleway / footpath up Whitendale to about SD 655 536, then headed up S ridge to summit of Middle Knoll, descended steeply down to the east and then to farm at Whitendale. Headed up BW to east then along fence north to Baxton Fell. Retraced route and followed ridge on to Burn Fell Trig, and down towards Beatrix. Then FP east to Rough Syke Barn and up to Boarsden Moor. Down through fields to near Boardsen, FP south and then up very difficult Faber Knoll, surrounded by BWFs!! Finally south across footbridge and back along pleasant permissive road / track to Thorneyholme Hall and Dunsop Bridge. A round trip of 23 km with 800m ascent in just under 7 hours. | silveracorn_alan | 05/03/2022 |

Middle Knoll from GR: SD 64725 50514, road to track at SD 65674 53867 and gate at SD 65668 54000. Trimbled summit but at 395.1m couldn't help get it back to Hump status. | Hippster | 14/08/2021 |

Evening walk to the summit cairn from Dunsop Bridge. Watched the light fade on the descent. Very peaceful. | meltdiceburg | 09/09/2020 |
After a bivy at Whitendale Hanging Stones, exceedingly steep down Far Pasture Brow then similarly steep up the other side of the valley. Steps and a gap in the wall to the N allow access to the summit. Then down some quad bike tracks to the southernmost corner of the field to a gate. | Wheelsy | 09/08/2020 |
The quad track start is not at the end of the tarmac as the tarmac has been extended considerably. It would now be better described as just after the high point of the tarmac. Thus we missed the quad track and only spotted it on the return journey. Instead, we followed the line of the wall which is not recommended. Hard going underfoot. From layby at top of Trough Road: Middle Knoll, Whitendale, Wolfhole Crag, Brennand Tarn, Whin's Brow. First time out after lockdown and able to do local walk of more than 1 hour. Ground very dry for this area, mixed cold winds and sun. | Lazylizzie | 16/05/2020 |
With Colin from Dunsop Bridge on first day of easing of the lock down. Nice walk along river before climbing up the south slope along by the wall. | Andrew Pearson | 13/05/2020 |

Excellent advice from Simon and Co.The quad bike track might be longer but surely easier than a direct assault. Grand all-round views from summit on a warm autumn day. With Oscar. | catman | 12/10/2019 |

With Bev. Easy route is take the right hand tarmac road up from road from Dunsop (so east side of hill). At the top of the road there is a rough track to a gate on the left. Go through gate and stick with the quad bike track. It doubles back at first but then follows the ridge line all the way to the summit. | simon and co | 13/11/2018 |
With Jo, from Dunston Bridge. Up road towards Whitendale to boundary wall, then up fell. Returned over Blue Scar using stile mentioned by Hillhiker. Weather; sunny, warm good visibility. | amblerbob | 18/10/2018 |

With SDT from parking area at SD6471250509. We ascended from the west & descended east. It would have been easier if we'd ascended & descended from the east. There's a gate & intermittent track to the summit off the road to Whitendale. | ADT | 21/04/2018 |

From Dunsop Bridge, followed road which forks to the right, found highest point then straight up | bardolph | 23/01/2017 |
Welcome refreshment stop in village hall at Dunsop Bridge (closest village to centre of Uk as calculated by OS 3 miles NW on moors. Rannulph Fiennes had opened a commemorative 2000th BT phone box here in 1992 to recognise this point). Plod up road with Darren and nice steep S ridge for 8th top of our 9 top circular walk then onto Whins Brow before another night roadside camping in the Trough. | Chris Pearson | 24/07/2016 |
Dunsop Bridge - Whins Brow - Wolfhole Crag - White Hill - Whitendale - Middle Knoll - Dunsop Bridge | davidpettit84 | 14/05/2016 |
Cycled from Dunsop Bridge up waterworks road to 653537. Then along footpath to west of hill & straight up. Then on to Baxton Fell. | ngthack | 24/04/2016 |
A 2.5 mile walk each way from Dunsop Bridge just to reach the hill (it will be of no interest that there is a parking area at the top road junction and the farmers and water board officials don't car if you are in car.) If you bear left here and go though the gate the ascent is severe (and consequently, the drop). Better to turn right and head up the flank whence, after climbing the fence, you will meet a vehicular track to the summit. | moorsman | 22/10/2015 |

Long walk in from Dunsop Bridge then up a farmer's track to the summit. While on the access land, I found a stile near the summit at N53°59.097' W002°31.729' Probably there to make the gamekeeper's life easier... | hillhiker | 26/04/2013 |
