From Hemsworthy Gate with Kate.Newton Maximus26/12/2023
After Top tor, having parked at Hemsworthy gate, i took an ankle biting gorse trail to a gate to the South of Hemsworthy gate then along near the fenceline before climbing direct to the top. Very enjoyable. Easy path down back to Lesley and the car. Onwards to Hay Tor...Dazingdale06/08/2023

Climbed from gate across the road at Cold East Cross. More gentle but longer than other climbs. Found the partly carved recumbent cross near the summit which I walked straight past last time!RVC13/06/2023

With Jo, from Hemsworthy Gate car park; Rippon Tor, then after visiting the Nut Crackers, across Blackslade Mire to Pil Tor and Top Tor. Weather; sunny, warm, good visibility.amblerbob18/09/2020
Approached from Saddle Tor via small parking place by the road. Lots of Belted Galloway cattle. Unusually a couple were less than friendly with lots of bellowing and the evil eye. The hole in the wall by the hawthorn tree indicated on the guide was no longer there but wall relatively easily crossed. It was so much easier 40 years ago. A bonus of a trig pillar and ravens at the top. A steepish decent towards Top Tor.Sixtyplus05/09/2020
Five mile circuit from Cold East Cross carpark; with a there-and-back first to Buckland Beacon. Then clockwise to Blackslade Ford, Wittaburrow, Tunhill Rocks, Pil Tor, Top Tor and finally Rippon Tor. Very hot day 28deg C. With Geraldine, Tiarnan, Rob Graham & Mel Sealey. Dropped down to Widecombe-in-the-moor afterwards for shade and cold drinks.Pete West09/08/2020

1.30am on my 100 tors in 25 hours. Familiar route up after Saddle Tor, but could have done with forgotten compass to find NutcrackersRocks. Rough descent to road as mist crept up blotting out the moon just to complicate things.Chris Pearson23/07/2018
Parked at car park where minor road leaves the B3387 between Rippon Tor and Top Tor and climbed both.clivevilla14/11/2017
Parked at road junction to north amidst the ponies. Fought our way up the broad but soggy path in the face of a storm. Reached the trig ok (despite the sturdy wall around it) but then the wind was so strong it took us several minutes before we could leave again. Blattered with icy rain on the way down, soaked to the skin. A hard-won hill indeed today, but any other time this would be an easy stroll.wheresthepath21/10/2017
W Jenx and Bryher, after Ryders hill this was a doddle. Parked at road junction to North and followed track to delightful summitnordicstar06/10/2017

First hill of the day after stopping over at Dartmoor YHA. Short walk up from junction of roads to NW, marked on map as Hemsworthy Gate (where there's an easy to find surface block). Lovely rocky top to the tor with extensive 360deg views.jonglew02/12/2013
