8.1 mile walk from Minions. We walked north along the dismantled railway round to the east side of Stowe's Hill to the minor road west of Sharptor hamlet. We followed the permissive path to Sharp Tor and continued to Langstone Downs from here it was an easy (eventhough a tad wet) ramble across the moor to Kilmar Tor. We repeated our steps back to Sharptor and continued over Stowe's Hill past the impressive Cheesering to Minions. We then made a beeline to Caradon Hill summit. Returning to the car. 409m ascent. The day started sunny and turned very cloudy later on. We managed to get a view from most hills though. A few people about. Afterwards we drove around to and bagged Kit Hill and Cadson Bury. | DanTrig | 22/03/2023 |
A tricky rock to scramble up. A pity the views were not better today. [Circular walk of Kilmar Tor, Bearah Tor, Newel Tor, Trewortha Tor, Hawk's Tor.] With Alma Aurea. /D | meltdiceburg | 21/02/2023 |
At the summit, found a knobble for my left hand which was enough to give me
confidence to take the step across the gap. | richtea5040 | 30/06/2022 |
Minions to Stowe's Hill, Langstone Downs, Kilmar Tor around Hawks Tor and back to Minions | Arbie | 14/06/2022 |
Parked at space at 259759, at end of very narrow road. Followed good track, then paths through bracken along the ENE ridge- then slabs- then tors- trig pt and HP scrambled easily to jump which we straggled and touched HP with poles. We continued a walk visiting Langstone Downs- down a path through bracken from trig pt then beeline against well-grazed pasture to Langstone Downs- and Hawk's Tor (qv for route). With brother, Pete | pwheeler | 13/06/2022 |
From parking area to NE, headed up E. ridge to the gap below the summit. With confidence rope attached stepped across & up to the high point. Had sat out the morning's thunderstorm drinking tea in the friendly Racehorse Inn in North Hill. (Paul Simpson) | gerrybowes | 08/09/2021 |
Not ticked. Road end parking area at SX 2586 7587 - Over cattle grid & followed track S. & then WSW to 254747 - Picked up a good path to the tor which passes the hut ruin mentioned by Hillsidenick - An ascent up the E. side looked the best option, but bottled it when it came to making the step across the gap to the summit tor. Decided to come back later in the year with partner & confidence rope. (S) | gerrybowes | 16/06/2021 |
Parked at 259759. Took the path south through aggressive looking cattle including a bull but farmer on horseback distracted them for me. Good scramble along the ridge including trig point before a leap onto the summit tor. Headed direct back and got battered legs. | bolton | 24/07/2020 |
From car park at end of road from Middlewood . Drive slowly. Beared left on open and very wet ground and went along ridge and round back to find weakness in rocks. Impressive granite tor. | Mark Sims | 26/02/2020 |
Cold misty and wet scramble up from start of bridle path. | AngusDog | 31/01/2020 |
Trigpoint then scramble. Back to car at NE | cjo | 01/04/2019 |
At last, a good little hill. Great rock hopping along ridge and interesting getting to the top. | jenx | 17/05/2018 |
Lovely up from CP to NE. Scramble East to West along tops w Jenx and Bryher. Perfect weather | nordicstar | 17/05/2018 |
From Newel Tor, once found way across river easy going to rocks. Went to trig point first and awkward scramble to get to HP. | PeterD | 04/10/2017 |

I walked up to the top on my way to the trigpoint. | Alancache | 03/08/2017 |
Easy going until the final very awkward rocks. Not a straightforward scramble up to the true summit (and even worse on descent I thought). | Tony S | 01/04/2017 |
From end of minor road, great little tor. | rhalstead | 04/03/2017 |

Walked up from Berriowbridge where the bus dropped me via Nodden Lane. Visited the various superb cairns and cists on Twelve Men's Moor before climbing the ridge from its western end. Nice scramble along the outcrops and a very awkward onto the topmost rocks. From there descended to Bearah Tor and its chambered cairn, then up to the summit cairns on Langstone Downs, down to the valley to west, across the top of Witheybrook Marsh (luckily not too boggy), over Craddock Moor to visit the stone row and stone circle, then across for a first visit to the Hurlers. Finished off by walking to Tremar to catch the bus back to Liskeard. A fabulous day out. | thesweetcheat | 23/06/2016 |
Parking at the end of the Sharp Tor road. Path northwards leads to the open access and then access Kilmar via Langstone Downs. | moorsman | 18/06/2016 |
1/3 Short walk up from forest for some very impressive tors | Fergalh | 19/04/2015 |
Parked in car park near north hill just below hawks for. | 1943 | 25/09/2014 |
Parked in small car park at end of minor road to NNE. Good wide track south along wall then to ridge to east of the top. Lots of scrambling to get to the trig and summit. Probably minimise scrambling and ascent by approaching the top from the south (from remains of a hut). Great hill, if only all HuMPs were this good. | Hillsidenick | 13/08/2013 |
With Vicky, Mum and dad whilst staying at Duloe. | Cameron Singer | 10/06/2013 |
Parked at end of road to NE, easy ascent leads to a fine rocky ridge. | tim747 | 15/05/2013 |

Climbed from roadhead to NE - it has quite a rocky ridge! | Chris Peart | 21/09/2012 |
A smashing peak. I approached from the NE parking at the end of the woods. It was a short walk but I felp drained with the heat. Nice scrambly bit to get to the sumit after visiting the trig point. | Father Ted | 07/09/2012 |
Ascent from Minions via Stowe's Hill. Descent via Bearah Tor and lanes via Henwood. Scramble to HP quite easy from western side. KEEP WELL AWAY FROM WARDBROOK FARM. WE WERE ATTACKED BY TWO DOGS AND MY SON WAS BITTEN! | Man of Kernow1 | 06/04/2012 |
From the SE for a lovely bit of scrambling on a warm sunny Sunday afternoon. Did 3 different routes to and from the summit. Not quite the Cullins but fine for Devon & Cornwall. | Dugswell2 | 25/03/2012 |
Visited on a geocaching walk starting and ending in Minions. Bagged the trig point too. | CornishGazza | 21/01/2012 |
Parked at end of road to NE. Blowing a hoolie, rocky top lethal. Fell in a hole resulting in a badly bloodied leg. Would have been a joy otherwise, will have to come and play on it again if I'm ever nearby in calm weather. | wheresthepath | 18/09/2011 |
Pensilva to Common Moor taking in as much of the higher ground as practical (access land not being continuous). Warm but hazy. | Smudge | 26/03/2011 |
From the carpark to the NE, a splendid walk with some fun clambering over the rocks and boulders at the end. | Herbert Anchovy | 18/10/2010 |
With Darren, drove steeply to park at road top to NE – easy 20 mins to fine scrambly ridge of beautifully weathered granite boulders – a fine natural art gallery – found the trig and worked our way onto the highest slightly awkward top – an overhanging boulder that looked like a granite poppadom ! photos . Sunshine after a damp murky day. A fine top. | Chris Pearson | 10/08/2010 |
Parking at the end of the road to the NW. Top a bit tricky - best from the East side - as far as I am aware. | destaylor | 06/12/2009 |
Parked in Minions and climbed Stowe's Hill en route. Trig pillar much lower than true summit which is impressive tor that needs a modicum of scrambling ability. | David Gradwell | 10/04/2009 |
Isabelle on my back, along with the family. Summit marked by trig point, but the true top was gained via a scramble. | isabelle | 06/04/2007 |
superb craggy crest, fine view. Summit a scrambly tor just W of trig. from gateway at end of steep road to SE, cross pasture | RHW | 26/08/2002 |
