Followed Jim’s route from car park. Top very flat. Went on to obelisk and viewpoint.PeterD03/03/2023
Not very exciting - no ascent to speak of from road . and no view either.Mark Sims06/07/2022
As others. Lots of dog walkers.Minto30/06/2022
Followed standard route: visited the two 'tops'RobertP04/02/2022
Parked just inside entrance to car park at SX 9201 8079 & followed jimbloomer's route i.e. Along path which heads NW & then NE to boundary between mature woodland & conifer plantation at SX 9199 8104 - Turned right & along path, faint in places, to the unmarked summit. Rhododendrons in bloom. (S)gerrybowes15/06/2021
On a very busy May Day Bank Holiday!Poolton12303/05/2021
Very busy car park. Took a sort of track to the 253m point and turned to head back through the undergrowth. Got totally disorientated, and eventually came across a firebreak and ended up at a fantastic viewpoint and an obelisk.ChinnockC27/10/2020
Some thinning of the conifers has taken place,Adrian31/08/2020
Short walk from car park, much easier than it might have been.rhalstead23/02/2019
Not quite as easy to reach as some have suggested. We did our best. The official paths look recently upgraded and the view (not from the top) of the Exe estuary makes a visit worthwhile.Newton Maximus10/01/2018
Short walk from car park initially on footpath then through trees.Swindon Bagger01/12/2017
Jimbloomer's directions are spot on. Easy except the last few yards diving in to the forest.clivevilla11/11/2017
With Jenx and Bryher. Followed JB's instructions to 'edge of mature wood', HOWEVER NOTE new ride (of sorts) leads from 35m further down the path, behind a holly bush at GR SX92008 81058. This follows straight line easy walking about 100m direct to summit, no tree thrashing required. After the flinty rock 'top' we continued that line and then navigated a line through young woods to path that led to CPnordicstar07/10/2017
Nice woodland busy with dog walkers.jenx07/10/2017
Followed Jim Bloomer's route which quickly got me to summit.wwwCampbell Singer08/12/2016
Pleasant autumnal woods for Sunday stroll, with good viewpoint over Exe and strange stupa nearby. the summit is most unsatisfactory in thick undergrowth and/ or pine, depending on where you think the quite indistinct summit is. We struggled through pines to reach the 1:25 spot height point but hard to say if this was or was not the HP or where it was. Feel we have done enough struggling to tick it !Denise 23/10/2016
On the positives, there's a large well designed free carpark amongst pines and a pleasent woodland stroll reaches view point with great view of the Exe valley. We also visited the 1:25,000 OS spot height in pine forest but ground to its S felt higher - though all very marginal. Hill top is pale flints in powdery grey soil.RichardM23/10/2016
Instructions to reach OS spot height at SX 92128 80952: From carpark follow laid path NW then NE to SX91987 81033. Then turn R following edge of mature wood aiming just R of the summit. Finally turn L into the wood when you are about 35m from the spot height position.jimbloomer29/06/2016
1/8 Short walk from car parkFergalh31/05/2015
Attacked this hill on the merest trace of a path through scrubby wood directly from the car park before it disappeared and was forced back. Second attack was more fruitful; from a path running NE-SW a clear track leads off at right angles (SX 91990 81032) in a SE direction, along side of a dense conifer plantation. It may be that I covered the HP, or it may be that it's in the conifers. Either way not really possible to determine the precise HP with so much dense vegetation.jonglew16/11/2014
Reckon I got fairly close to the top by finding an overgrown forest track and pushing through birch and bracken. It eventually became close to impenetrable. That'll have to do.Herbert Anchovy15/09/2014
At end of ChrisB stand walk 80 down developing track in thinner band of tree plantings. I then branch and bramble cleared a path N over 7 2-4m tree furrows in the thick plantings to the place where the 1:25k spot height sits over the google earth aerial shot. No cairn or obvious trampling.Bodmhor01/08/2014
As chrisbien & Smudge.Chris Peart28/07/2014
Dawlish to Telegraph Hill (Cafe Bus Stop): Obelisk viewpoint is nice. Chris' recommendation can enable ready penetration of the morass parallel to the more mature trees (as it seems others have been doing) for a few hundred yards.Smudge24/02/2013
Murder polis. Easiest way is go NW then NE along path from CP to near a stand of tall trees and go roughly E.chrisbien23/05/2012
Not as bad as Des suggests at this time of year...no bracken...limited gorse...plenty of trees...would be bad in another 6 weeks.Dugswell218/03/2012
I think des taylor is right, its not even worth attempting the gorse. I went part way round the paths.DARRENG21/05/2011
Tree debris for the last section.arranc18/02/2011
In top 3 of worst summits and I have done a fair few. No paths/tracks. Semi impenetrable knee height gorse and brambles. May as well go direct from the car park 100m. Take lower body armour and a machete.destaylor09/12/2010
summit is dense unpleasant pricky scrub; no view. true summit painful to reach!! RHW07/06/2003
