Summit just off path with trig point in heathland | freethehilltops | 05/06/2022 |
Ascent as gerrybowes but we went back over the ride at 978392. Has this been considered as the HP? Would be a shame if the HP was relocated to there, the open heath is much nicer, but the ride gave a nice variation for the walk back. With brother, Pete | pwheeler | 04/06/2022 |
Parked to SW by junction of forest tracks at SS 9735 3857 - NE up forest track to junction, through pedestrian gate opposite & up stone track to trig point - From trig point SE along path through heather to the unmarked summit; this lies in an area of heather & gorse. (S) | gerrybowes | 11/05/2021 |
From Kingsbridge (Luxborough), village hall stroll past pub and along side stream then turn into Forestry Commission land and up stony BW to Withcombe Common. After the wooded climb, the top offers a welcome open view of Bristol Channel. With Tiarnán. | Pete West | 10/10/2020 |
Gentle ascent along forestry tracks from SS969411. 3.7 miles there and back. | Newton Maximus | 24/09/2020 |
Small clearing with trig and sunken tumulus just off path and within heather, bracken and bilberry. HP is somewhere close- we wandered around using Abney. Grazing ponies. | Denise | 09/07/2020 |
On tracks from Withycombe Hill. Levelish summit of low gorse and heather grazed by ponies. Ground 80m SE of mound is higher than ground around base of mound. Heathland views. | RichardM | 09/07/2020 |
Treborough NW along lane, footpath to Druid's Combe Farm and ascent through woods, past Slowley Farm to Monkham Hill and HP. South along wood-edge to Luxborough and ascent through fields back to lane. 7.31miles; 3hrs,01mins; 2.4mph. Sunny, dry, very windy and very cold. | Howards | 29/03/2020 |

During a long run on Exmoor, hitting the three highest peaks. Started/finished at Wheddon Cross. | bentimmo | 27/05/2018 |
Easy track from SW. Not sure why top has been relocated from trig. Also went to other 381 spot height in the forest. | jenx | 14/10/2017 |
Up the track from pt 259 near Nurcott Farm. Permissive to park at start of woods, then follow track w Jenx and Bryher to intersected paths. Line to trig, under new summits and cols update the trig is highpoint, manmade but grassed over mound. Alternate high point lower. More relevant is the alternate summit in woods of Croydon hill. Large 380m ring contour with higher ground inside. My GPS showed 384m, needs a survey, Abney level no use due to trees. | nordicstar | 14/10/2017 |
Memorable for being plagued by flies whilst trying to get my ageing GPS to work at the summit. | Alan Caine | 24/08/2016 |
