A rarity for me to a revisit. However, in last couple of years I have diversified into explicitly bagging lighthouses, so here for Cathy's Oratory. Still misty, though.Martin R12/10/2023

Train, catamaran and bus to Bonchurch and then ascended the steep path to St Boniface down then using the coastal path (and a few diversions) in muddy terrain the Whitwell hill and St Catherine's hill for a lovely day in the cold wind. Great views all day before heading back to VentnorBuck13/01/2023

Along the roadside path to the River Yar spring then the ROW south to West Cliff, joining the Coastal Path westwards back to Blackgang. Great round.summitter28/09/2021

Car park to S. at SZ 4909 7674 - A pleasant walk up to the oratory, summit mound, trig point & unfinished lighthouse (known as the 'Salt Pot'). Useful information board. (S)gerrybowes14/04/2021
HuMP No3 of 6 planned for the day. Straight forward enough hill following public footpath sign C36 to Gore Down. Main feature of summit is St. Catherine's Oratory, built in c13 but reminiscent of rocket. No doubt due to fog. Man made ground definitely highest point with highest natural ground between barrow and trig pillar.mntainman22/09/2020
Got off the bus at Blackgang Chine and took the direct approach up the hill to the summit. Once again excellent views, this time including the Needles about 15 miles away. Down to Niton then along the coastal path to Ventnor.Richard13/09/2020
A hot walk from the car park above Blackgang Chine to the Oratory and then through the gate to the trig point. Fabulous views of the Island.ThomasJoseph08/08/2020

Final day of Isle of Wight weekend. 14 hills, 55 trigs 23 benchmarks, 27 miles, knackered! Think we saved the best for last. Lovely little hill, short walk up from large car park on A3055 to S. Then on to Hoys monumnet further N. Summit is on the barrow, or next to it if that's deemed man-made.jonglew12/05/2014
Parked off to the south on layby and used track to gain summit architecture. Nice trig and chapel remains. Back down FP towards CP and roadside parking. Lovely day now.nordicstar14/04/2014

Climbed from car park to south in thick sea fog. Startled by first cows and then a spaceship looming out of the mist at us. Spaceship turned out to be the rather splendid oratory. High point is clearly the large burial mound to SE.wheresthepath23/09/2009
