First new Hump of the year. As Gerry suggests park further down from reservoir. At the end of the hedge the fence is broken down. CCW around field. Top and trig easily found. Misty day with no view. With Geraldine. | Pete West | 29/01/2024 |
Otford to Vigo Village [NDW] | Smudge | 23/12/2023 |
On a circular walk from Ightham including Raspit Hill | PhilipChaston | 07/10/2023 |
From layby just outside field, through gap in hedge, where a little track leads onto and around the field edge. Dirt track leads off on the right just before the trig point and into the wood. High point seemed to be under a large old tree. | LizH | 14/08/2023 |
Verge parking to WSW, into field and around edge to summit and trig point. | Minto | 30/06/2023 |
Train to Borough Green, then Raspit Hill, bus to Wrotham walk via N Downs Way to minor road to Exedown and walked around field edge on good track to trig. Good views. Then to Hurst Hill | trimarc2 | 13/09/2021 |
Parked in the parking area to the SE as mentioned by Gerry (TQ 58994 59956) easy nip over wooden rail fence where there is a gap in the barbed wire and followed field boundary anticlockwise. There is forestry work underway in the wood to the east and warnings about shooting in the woods so if you are tempted to come up through the woods; be warned. | DC11main | 13/06/2021 |
Parked in layby SE of covered reservoir at TQ 5889 6006 - Over gate opposite & clockwise around cultivated field boundary to high point just inside wood. Also trig point at edge of field. On return noticed a parking area a bit further to the SE; from there it would have been much shorter to have headed anticlockwise to high point. (S) | gerrybowes | 13/04/2021 |
Parked on the west side of Wrotham by Blacksole Field. Took the NDW to Exedown road before the bridleway to the M20. from there plenty of paths criss cross the woods to the NW of the trig. Also visited the trig before descending to Exedown road and the NDW. | garyhoney | 22/11/2020 |
Hump bagging drive around the South East before moving North. | atreides7887 | 08/08/2020 |
Clear frosty morning- nice view, pity about motorway traffic noise. Parked near reservoir in lay-by and followed field boundary. HP at trig . | Denise | 19/01/2020 |
Park in muddy layby on W side of summit and take woodland path then grassy field margin to the high point trig pillar. All quite level. Stunning clear blue skies and sunshine. | RichardM | 19/01/2020 |
Parked in a lay by to the west of the big top field.
Followed a route through the woods to a point near the top..
Rained very hard at one point. But the trig point was very painfully reached brambles all around | ChinnockC | 31/08/2019 |
Detour from North Downs Way | lerritt | 09/08/2019 |
Drove out to do the trig on top of this hill. Parked on the flytipping corner by the blocked byway and walked steeply uphill. No one around and soon reached summit. | MysteriousSue | 28/07/2019 |
Parked in lay by to West and walked round field boundary. Under loved trig point here needs someone to love | nickywood1 | 18/11/2018 |
Park by A road, down old lane and over motorway, rough track to summit area | nordicstar | 10/05/2018 |
From Borough Green station, via Wrotham, North Downs Way, lane and field boundary. From trig, headed East on small track and faint paths to pick up bridleway for the return. | PGCE | 16/01/2018 |
Parked in a lay-by on the western edge of Wrotham at TQ 60957 59060. Did a loop through the village past the parish church, then joined the Pilgrims/North Downs Way west to a lane. Followed the lane north uphill onto the plateau, then followed the field edge to the trig and flat summit area. Returned much the same way. Solo. | Man of Kernow1 | 19/12/2017 |
Single Tump walk from Borough Green to Kemsing. Woods full of motorbikers and rifle shooting so went along road to W of summit and across flinty and ploughed field. | Mark Jackson | 07/10/2017 |
With K. Around field boundary from road. Woods have GOML notices. Unsatisfying day but that's this bit cleared. | Ashley | 30/04/2017 |
From Borough Green station - climbed over the gate by the reservoir. Walked round the field to the trig, then along the North Downs Way to Otford station. | Richard | 29/04/2017 |
Parked near gate, in fading light walked around field edge to Trig. | PeterD | 25/11/2016 |
A walk in wellies across harvested and flinty field in grey damp conditions. | Dugswell2 | 05/09/2016 |
Followed the same roue as Steve Smith. There are 2 laybys on Exedown Road which are near the gate which gives access to the summit field. The field boundary is wide and can easily be followed to the trig. Sounds of gun fire from Cooper's Wood. With JT and HT. | Sprog | 21/08/2016 |
From Cooper's Wood, easy access on scrambler tracks from motorway footbridge. | rhalstead | 13/08/2016 |
Beeline across harvested field to trig. Trig now resides in the perimeter vegetation rather than the cultivated area. | jimbloomer | 12/08/2016 |
5/11 Fifth of eleven on wet day (Langdan Hill/Heath Mount/London Road/Wrotham Hill/Holly Hill/Dettling Hill(North Downs)/Cheriton Hill/Toys Hill/Betsoms Hill/Westerham Heights/Botley Hill) | Fergalh | 25/12/2015 |

Simple walk around the field to the trig. Parked to the SW and climbed over the gate by the reservoir. | SmudgerSmith | 22/04/2014 |
Done this at least twice before. A nice little hill near a small parking area. | steverd | 21/08/2013 |
From Hotel off A20 taking path over M20 then staying to the right in woods to emerge at trig. | squeegs | 11/08/2013 |
P at side of road just SE of res. Gate into field and around perimeter to trig. | chrisbien | 26/04/2013 |
An easy walk around the field edge. Three very loud bangs at close quarters set the heart racing - only then did I spot the "gas gun" bird scarer near the trig. | Chris Peart | 10/04/2013 |
Park at a busy junction of 4 minor roads, along field edges, mainly on grass headlands around to Trig column 2012 on a raised concrete base. 16.40. Noise of M20. | arranc | 01/03/2013 |
Bagged from NDW. Firing range at top of track active - avoid going too far SW in woods. | prwild | 14/10/2012 |
Nice margin to walk around - same as others. | simon and co | 30/04/2012 |
Easy parking & walk. Trig at edge of wood, not in trees | David Rawden | 28/03/2012 |
Parked by the lane to the west and followed the southern edge of the field to the trig. There's a good, wide, uncultivated margin. | davidpettit84 | 22/10/2011 |
Parked on road to the west. The field now has a set aside margin in which the trig point stands so it is an easy walk from there. (Lot's of thistles so shorts might not be a good idea). | clivevilla | 17/07/2010 |
Leave ROW just south of motorway bridge for contouring path that takes you to sighting of top field. Without crops the trig base does seem to be high point. | Smudge | 03/01/2010 |
As D Taylor. The mountain bike tracks through the wood are a bit of a maze but not too hard to find the right field. The trig isn't within the cropped area so can be reached without trampling the crop. Probably not the highest point though. | Herbert Anchovy | 08/08/2009 |
Walked round edge of field to reach trig point, obviously out of use as is surrounded by trees! Parked on verge opposite field, sounds of shooting nearby. | Nick | 29/03/2009 |
Walking the section of the NDW between Otford and Birling Hill on a warm day. The NDW is such a curate's egg of a walk, and I deviated to visit the highest ground between the Darent and Medway, thus unknowingly bagging a hump. I also deviated onto open ground at Trosley country park to escape a long tedious section of deep woodland. Did Wrothan Hill again, straight up paths in the quarry area to the S on a 1 mile 'bag' (but interesting) for brother Pete on 14/03/2017. | pwheeler | 23/05/2008 |
Space for 2/3 cars on hairpin bend 500m south. Sign says Live Ammunition Please Stay Out (typed on home computer)Follow tracks in forest to trig 10m into crop field - so cannot reach it but top flat so doesn't really matter. Very slippery if wet. | destaylor | 09/10/2007 |
Stop off on drive to Sandwich to collect a bed - 1st ever purchase on e-bay. | Chris Pearson | 11/12/2005 |
