From Woolbeding Common lower CP, via Stedham Marsh and Redford. Outside the fence on the N side of the garden seems as high. Also visited another H P 400m to SSE, which seems as high. | IanHHill | 01/12/2023 |
From ROW through woodland to iron gate at rear of property. If it's not the natural HP it's very close. | Galltywenallt | 16/08/2023 |
Same route as Gerry, checked a couple of possible HPs by house. With C. | PeterD | 05/02/2023 |
A pleasant circuit from Liphook station: Hollycombe Hanger, Telegraph Hill, Dunner Hill, Combe Hill, Weavers Down.
Rain and sunshine on a lovely day out. | Buck | 27/09/2022 |
From car park to S. at SU 8698 2603, headed E. up waymarked RoW to T-junction. Turned left & NNW along RoW (vehicle track). Shortly after passing close to the property's gates, left the RoW & made way up through fairly open woodland, apart from a few rotting fallen trees, to the high point. This appears to lie next to an old iron garden gate in what remains of the boundary fencing. (S) | gerrybowes | 15/04/2021 |
From free NT carpark at Woolbeding common Viewpoint. Short walk through open woods. HP appears to be by mature trees at boundary- very near house; lawn beyond looks lower. When driving back down Woolbeding lane later, in rain/dark, got a double puncture from large potholes- the local tyre repair place in Midhurst , Mid Sussex tyres was very helpful and knows the spot well! | Denise | 14/12/2020 |
Through the open pine forest to fence line where we thought the ground under a large Sweet Chestnut tree was as high as anything in the area. | RichardM | 14/12/2020 |
Train to Liphook, then followed the New Lipchis Way. Was surprised to see a polo field next to the house where the summit is - not a common sight when bagging. The actual top is in the back garden of the house, so I'm claiming this one on head-height rules. | Richard | 25/07/2020 |
With: hb; From free NT carpark at Woolbeding common. Short walk through woodland. Summit difficult to locate amongst mature trees but GPS was used. | Ian Baines | 13/02/2020 |
Park at Woolbeding Common NT carpark. Walk north along lane cut up hill on footpath toward house and skirt boundary northwards to rear of house which is summit.. no need to disturb the residents. | Pete West | 11/02/2019 |
Got as close as possible without going onto the property. As part of a 26km loop Fernhurst in the drizzle. | atreides7887 | 19/01/2019 |
With K from car park to SW. Pleasant area. High point is in private garden | Ashley | 10/03/2018 |
16-mile circuit from Liphook station: Hollycombe Hanger, Telegraph Hill, Dunner Hill, Combe Hill, Weavers Down. | Mark Jackson | 23/09/2017 |
Walked up from Tote Hill as access to car prevented due to road works. Bagged trig then HuMP as gates open. | Dugswell2 | 06/09/2016 |
Mud and fog ! 2nd visit to woodland edge then down drive. With L on 2 and half hr circular slippery run through the mud bath and soaking fields -heavy going -from Haslemere - twice as hard as normal. Strangely fun. Marley Heights-Telegraph Hill- Hollycombe Hanger. | Chris Pearson | 24/01/2016 |
One of several hills in area 42 done twice, second time with brother, Pete, when he bagged them. Started at Henley, from where pleasant, open woodland walks can be done: out via Pound Common, back via Scotland Farmhouse. Excellent pub in Henley after walk. On a Friday afternoon, there was no one in the house by the summit and there are no fences to negotiate. For my brother's visit in 2016, we drove to a car park on Woolbeding Common (difficult, very narrow road); house occupied then (Saturday) so he sneaked in furtively. Always visited trig pt (183 m) on common- the main viewpoint to visit and much better than the summit. The telegraph refers to the building including a tower used to send messages using flags and telescopes from the admiralty in London to Portsmouth. | pwheeler | 04/12/2015 |
5/7 Fifth climb of wet and windy day. All small due to inclement weather (Fort Southwick/Butser Hill/Wheatam Hill/Gibbet Hill/Telegraph Hill/Black Down/Linch Down/) | Fergalh | 14/11/2015 |
Up to garden gate. | rhalstead | 18/04/2015 |
From the car park at SU 869 260. Pleasant area and viewpoint but a disappointing high point approached from the wooded western slope. | summitsup | 17/04/2015 |
From car park 500m SSW | jimbloomer | 10/01/2015 |
Gibbet Hill, Black Down, Telegraph Hill, Bedham Hill and Leith Hill on way to London. Gibbet and Leith are both very good for South East. | simon and co | 07/09/2014 |
ascended from the north through the steep forest, quite a lot of fallen trees now so a little tricky, gate closed so couldn't bring myself to enter the garden without permission. | stevanio | 12/07/2014 |
Up steep bank at rear to garden gate which was wide open. | Chris Peart | 29/06/2014 |
From Henley where the Duke of Cumblerland is a nice pub | squeegs | 30/03/2014 |
Went to 871264 between polo training facilities and house. Spoke to gardener and walked around house and felt like a bot of an anorak. | clivevilla | 08/10/2013 |
CP at Woolbeding Common. Went front and back of house boundary. Crossed 205m contour. | chrisbien | 23/04/2013 |
Walk over from car park to the trig column 183m. back to the road and up to GPS reading for the HuMP at 14.40. Horsey country and electric security alarms and gates. | arranc | 27/02/2013 |
Had to be content with looking at the remains of the trig. (just the concrete base) from outside the garden fence. I wonder if this hill should be renamed: I reached it by a narrow road signed to Older Hill, which name is also used on the display board in | David Rawden | 19/10/2011 |
Although it is debatably acceptable to count the Mow Cop trig as a bag, not this one. Two ways to get there up a steep bank in the woods behind the house or just walk into the garden. Did both ways. | Martin R | 22/08/2011 |
Bagged as part of a 47 mile bike ride from Fleet. Beautiful views to the West, Can see Wheatham Hill my next target. Same problem as the other 2, I'm counting the Trig point as it being bagged! | Tom | 10/04/2011 |
Visited the Trig Point first and then had the same problem as Des. Hung around the gate for a while hoping someone would go in or out and let me wander around their garden but no luck today. | Father Ted | 02/09/2010 |
A large private house at the top - obviously private as it says on the gate. Gate is about 90m away - as close as I got. | destaylor | 09/02/2009 |
Visited the driveway gate and then higher woodland edge to the north of house. There was bit of an incident on the elite course of the British Orienteering Champs some years ago when theses gardens in error were not marked out of bounds and the best route went through them, across flower beds and and the like Some leading runners realised it was clearly private and doubled back - lodging an appeal for time lost - not sure if the owners were at home that busy day. | Chris Pearson | 21/09/2006 |
popular spot, heathland, fine view from TP, summit in woodland at N edge of house garden, no view. FP from mapped car pk 869261 then thru wdld nr house | RHW | 08/09/2002 |
