Up from the east, following tracks from forest car park. Did look at westerly approach but no sensible parking | cjo | 05/06/2022 |
HP probably on path, near to Trig, which is just to S of path in field corner, next to but outside of Aerial enclosure, which includes old ROC station. Foggy, so no view. | Denise | 08/11/2021 |
Track crosses the summit passing ROC station, now home to comms. mast, and trig pillar at edge of field accessed over a well trampled fence. Sadly misty so no views today. | RichardM | 08/11/2021 |
Up from the road to the west. | Arbie | 06/11/2021 |

From South. Difficult to find somewhere to park on West side. Parked to the south just east of bridleway. Started on bridleway, then directly up grassy field and along through gate. | PGCE | 06/02/2020 |
On own. From Lisvane & Thornhill railway station. Thanks to Islamidget report, same route taken from Cardiff Ramblers website used http://www.cardifframblers.org.uk/routes/walklfltos.php?walkref=cwl04 A great walk. Morning low cloud finally cleared to give views from the trig point across the estuary, the two islands of Flat Holm and Steep Holm, Cardiff Bay and the Millennium Stadium. Very muddy in the woods. | Beeliner | 15/10/2019 |
Arrived at 12.40. Had to search for the trig point, just off main path. Great views of Cardiff on a clear day and good way to start two days of County Top walks. | acolling | 20/08/2019 |
Track up from west to trigged summit | vegibagger | 22/07/2019 |
Pleasant stroll up before Champions League Final, fingers crossed for Liverpool. Great view across the channel to Somerset/Devon | penbet | 01/06/2019 |
Just 1.2m from the CP at ST202854. One of the best accessible administrative tops. Up through woodland, out into open countryside, along an avenue of ancient trees and then there’s the trig. Even a section of fence has been deliberately left without barbed wire. Great views over Cardiff towards the Bristol Channel. | Newton Maximus | 28/05/2019 |
From Llywn Celyn car park to east. Don't be tempted by first path off up to left . Better path is a few yards further on by stone way marker. Nice hill with great views over Cardiff. | Mark Sims | 21/02/2019 |
Approached from the west en route to Newport from Cardiff - easy path to reach the highest point. | kasharic | 30/03/2018 |
Part of a beautiful 5.5 mile walk from Cefn Onn Country Park (it's on the Cardiff Ramblers website if anyone's interested) taking in Cefn Onn, the surrounding woodland and Craig Llysfaen. Stunning views. With Keith and baby Ross. | islamidget | 10/07/2017 |
Walked up from the car park to the east with Iain Brown. | Dugswell2 | 14/03/2017 |
A nice county top walk,45 minute walk from the Llwyncelyn car park to the east, up through a wood and then along the escarpment to the trig point. | WAYNE ROWLETT | 09/12/2016 |
Road over from Caerphilly has been resurfaced it seems. The 1:5 section is a concrete road. Parking to the west is all but impossible. A very small car might be squeezed in on the corner but anything biger than a 206 you'd really struggle. The track up to the top is very good and even a tubby part time smoker like me managed to run it little more than 5 mins. View out is superb. My last admin county top. | stig_nest | 16/09/2016 |
Circular from car park at Cefn Onn Park. | liljonb | 31/08/2016 |

Don't drive over the road to the W - it's evil! Finally parked in small car park to E, from which it's a pleasant stroll up to the top. Stunning views until the rain closed in...! | wheresthepath | 22/04/2011 |
From Mynydd Rudry. Tree fallen blocking minor road, longer approach, seemed lot of ascent | Aye Jimmy | 03/09/2010 |
