Short diversion off Pennine Way. After the Tump summit: a faint ATV track leads past the boundary stone. | PGCE | 09/04/2022 |
Parked in the car park where the Pennine bridle way and Pennine way meet, south west of Walshaw Dean reservoir and followed the Pennine way to the col between Round hill and Dick Delf hill where a tussock and bog trot takes you to the top (to find the boundary stone clear visibility would help as its only ankle high). Six and half mile in Two and three quarter hours. | WAYNE ROWLETT | 15/10/2021 |
7km round trip from the end of back lane. 1hr 15. | Nicky C | 13/10/2021 |
A circular walk through Bronte Country from Penistone Hill Country Park, visiting Ponden Clough, Alcomden Stones, Withins Height Boundary Stone, Withins Height (Round Hill) and Top Withins. A cold grey day with Annette, Chris, Christine and Steve. 16.2km with 480m ascent in 5h15m. | silveracorn_alan | 01/04/2021 |
icy day from harden | HardenC | 12/02/2021 |
As others, easy parking to NE in Back Lane at SE 0022 3658 - Up track to join Pennine Way & then up PW past Top Withins - Left PW shortly before col & WNW across heather & tussock to the unmarked summit. From summit, headed NE along a faint ATV track for about 80m to Bradford's UA top which lies by a boundary stone. Had I read Jim Bloomer's comment before setting off, I would have descended on this track to Top Withins. (S) | gerrybowes | 09/11/2020 |
From Walshaw Dean reservoir which was covered in thick cloud whilst the moors were bathed in sunshine. Lovely but tough going off the PW. Descended down Shoulder Nick and onto a path which accesses the grouse butts. With Mart. | John Eley | 07/11/2020 |
Short division off Pennine Way. | tim747 | 15/09/2020 |
faint vehicle track goes direct from the rear of 'High Withins'. | jimbloomer | 11/08/2020 |
Climbed from Haworth via the Bronte way up to Top Withens then a b_line to the summit. Very rough grass, hard going | robert | 24/07/2020 |
From Tump summit. Found stone with KC 1992 inscription. Returned to Back Lane, stopping for a snack by ruined house and enjoying the peace. Calderdale compleat. | Wycombe Wanderer | 16/05/2020 |
For Withins Height and boundary, parked to the NE in Back Lane SE002365. Enough room for a few cars. | David Evans | 13/07/2019 |
From the layby to N of the 389m spot height, Lad Law, then mostly following the boundary stones across to Withins Height (both tops because I forgot which was the right one!) From there back down past the reservoirs and up the road, stopping off for Hameldon on the way to the car. First real walk of 2019 so it felt a lot longer than expected... Except for a few small patches the moors seemed surprisingly dry, I wouldn't like to try this route after heavy rain though! | the_adam | 13/04/2019 |
On own. Late afternoon walk. Overcast, biting cold wind. From small (free) car park on Moor Side Lane. The toilets marked on OS map appear to have been closed down. SW along good track to Harbour Lodge Farm. The path then takes you anticlockwise around the farm boundary wall and up Oxenhope Edge. Muddy waymarked path W over Dick Delf Hill to boundary stone. Across Pennine Way then a tough 270 metres on deep tussocky grass to summit. Indistinct and no feature but GPS (OS 10 fig GR) showed I was there! Just me and the skylarks singing. | Beeliner | 26/03/2019 |
From Ponden Resr, good roadside parking SD 9957 3711. PW mostly, then across some very unfriendly ground. | jonglew | 10/01/2019 |

After Round hill summit, found Boundary stone With UA HP nearby. | PeterD | 10/05/2018 |
Plenty of parking space at Bully Trees Farm. Paved section of Pennine Way then follow boundary ( a shallow ditch) to boundary stone. Date 1902 inscribed on tiny boundary stone. Solo. Visited trig point on way back. Summit of Round Hill is unmarked. | Dangerous Dave | 30/11/2017 |
Along the Pennine Way for most of the way until horrible tussocks last 300 ms. Huge vistas. | Campbell Singer | 08/11/2017 |
dull evening - squalls from the west | bobthorp | 12/09/2017 |
Easy ascent from south along Penine Way past reservoirs. Ground away from the path very lumpy so not easy to reach summit. | Newton Maximus | 16/06/2017 |
Started Haworth, visited after summitting Withins Height and found boundary stone. Walked in circles a few times exploring to make sure. Continued on wild traverse to Watersheddles reservoir. | Dazingdale | 19/03/2017 |
Withins Height - Withins Height (boundary) from GR: SE 00238 36582 | ronaldo333 | 03/12/2016 |
Along PW from SW. Small parking area at SD948323 not on map. Found small cairn on Withins Height, but not boundary stone at WH Boundary despite criss crossing the grid square for 1/2hr. Must have nearly tripped over it. | mart0797 | 11/06/2016 |
Solo, good parking at Bully Farm (Back Lane, Stanbury for SatNav). | simon and co | 24/05/2016 |

Parked close to Bully Trees Farm. One hour forty minutes return in blustery but dry conditions on Pennine Way path past Top Withens. Evidence of a small pile of stones at what appears to be the summit. Solo. | bolton | 07/01/2016 |
Parked easily to NE near Bully Trees Farm. Very good track and paths. Last few hundred metres tussocks. | destaylor | 19/07/2015 |

Must be one of the hardest county tops. Beats standing next to a roundabout, | DARRENG | 11/07/2015 |
Round walk to/from Haworth via Stanbury and back via Bronte waterfalls. Beautiful sunny day. Plenty of parking in Haworth. | Argentum66 | 05/07/2015 |
With Jo, circular walk from Moor Side Lane; track to Harbour Lodge, paths onto Withins Height (Round Hill) and Withins Height (Round Hill) [boundary], returning via Withins Height trig, Bronte Bridge and Penistone Hill trig. Weather; high cloud, cold wind though it got warmer later, good visibility. | amblerbob | 07/03/2015 |
Done solo - but I fail to see why this is listed twice. Its just a heather topped hill with no significant features. | Aimless Rambler | 12/03/2014 |

Walked to Top Withins from Haworth and spent half an hour looking for the elusive 'top'. Eventually found a boundary stone which is probably as high as anything within the Bradford boundary. Higher ground behind is in Calderdale. | citygent | 27/01/2011 |
With Jo, circular walk from Penistone Hill Country Park: Bronte Waterfalls and Bridge, Alcomden Stones, Withins Height (Round Hill) (Boundary), Dick Delf Hill, Oxenhope Stoop Hill, Spa Hill. Weather; generally sunny and warm, frost, very good visibility. | amblerbob | 21/01/2011 |
Did a lambing a Harbour Lodge Farm in April 1990. Thankfully the farmer collected me in his landrover at the start of the long farm track. | Dugswell2 | 01/10/2009 |
