Parked in the layby at 78122 18627, up the road a short way to row, up that and skirted military area to Bull Hill. Down the far side, across a boggy area on the paved path then bee line across fairly wet but not too difficult heathery moor to Scholes Height.clivevilla12/09/2023
Parked by the cattle grid at the road end near Crowthorne: space for a car by the rocks. Bull Hill (trig, summit and alternative county top) and Scholes Height. Felt a bit daft walking in wellies over the flagstones to Bull Hill, but very smug on the crossing to Scholes Height as the ground is very wet.PGCE30/08/2023
From SW. Verge parking on bend, just above entrance to Crowthorn Farm - Up to end of road & then RoW to just before wall corner & start of recently paved section - Turned left & NNW along ATV track for about 200m & then vague bits of path to summit boundary post - ESE to Bury's 415m twin top which lies on the UA boundary about 60m E. of Bull Hill summit which is in Lancashire. Apart from the paved section on RoW, rough grass & a fair bit of boggy ground. Skylarks, lapwings & curlews loving it.gerrybowes04/05/2023
A boggy detour from Bull Hill proper.summitter30/10/2022
From the Crowthorn cattle grid as others. Appears large rocks have been placed where one would normally park. Still room for one car on the remaining verge. Unclear about access, gate which seems to restrict access to the ROW on my map is locked. No signage, positive or negative to be seen. Clearly people have crossed the fence, bent strands at top, or squeezed through on the left between post & gate, footprints in the mud. Followed trail marked on my old OS map then x-country to the top. Squishy mess. Encountered nobody.Nomad Perkins28/10/2022
2 of 4 on 11.5 mile hike starting at lumb road car park from bull hill. Quite soggy underfoot and not a very well defined path. Onto top of quarlton. Steep descent off the top to reach the pathThe-Z-Man03/07/2022

Easy walk up from Crowthorn. My first new hill since 23 March due to covid virus lockdown. Now restrictions have eased I'm back on the road. Solo.Dangerous Dave30/05/2020

One for the connoisseur, especially wretched walking! After RHSoc Slaidburn meet. Bull Hill ticked earlier in year, this time for just Scholes Heights. With Jenx and Bryher.nordicstar24/11/2019

From Crowthorn with a faint track, but boundary post easily found, then on to Bull Hill.PeterD24/09/2019
From Crowthorn to the summit, then across surprisingly dry moorland to the Bull Hill Trig, echoing with the call of a golden plover. From here onto Torr Hill to bag the Trig BoltWayne Mac16/05/2019

From Bull Hill across boggy moorland and a car wreck!! Managed to fall into one bog before getting to the post that marks the top of Scholes Height.John Eley03/03/2019
From end of the minor road to the S. RoW initially then followed the boundary line across wet grass moorland in wet cloud.jonglew10/01/2019
On own. Pleasant autumn afternoon. From small parking area after cattle grid at end of Crowthorn Lane. Up to Scholes Heights + Bull Hill Bury UA summit then over to Bull Hill trig point as no red flags on Holcombe Moor MOD firing range.Beeliner19/10/2018

From west. Walking hard through chest deep reeds in stiff, wet jeans. Misty at the top but hit the summit post without map or compass, just my baggers' sixth sense.Wycombe Wanderer19/08/2018
Car Park Rothwell Fold - Car Hey dam wall - Hog Lowe Pike (383m) and Trig - Causeway Height - Scholes Height (415m) UA Top of Bury (where Bury / Bolton and Lancashire meet) - NO RED FLAGS TODAY! - Followed Long Grain Water down to Rossendale Way, past long abandoned farmsteads to Rushy Leach then the abandoned quarries on Musbury Heights (past chimney) - back down to Car Hey Reservoir - A walk filled with the shadows of past exploitation but the hill will overcome all.briandavies18/08/2018
With Bull Hill from the B6235.Chris Peart03/08/2018
From cattle grid at top of Crowthorn Lane. Past smelly works (animal rendering?) and onto dry moorland. Easy going. 40 minutes there and back.Campbell Singer31/05/2018
From Layby on B6214 bend to East. Good climb up to Bull Hill, no flags on a bank holiday. Continued on to Scholes Heights via the 4x4 bog feature.rhalstead02/04/2018
4th log of the day after Three tumps. An out and back to Turton Heights then a drop off courtesy of my Airbnb hosts in Darwen at Pick-up bank to continue my main route, an out and back to Rushy Hill then over via Hoddlesden to Rushton's Height. Feeling pretty sickly, headache etc but continued SE through access land close to fenceline eventually reaching Broadhead road, opposite Toby Inn! Continued on road SE before climbing over gate then jumping over stream to climb up to the Boundary post. Beautiful snowscape encountered en-route. Feeling better with the vast plateaux of Wet and Black Moss before me. Bull Hill next...Dazingdale26/11/2017

From cattle grid along FP past foul smelling shed (what's going on in there?) then followed county boundary posts to top.Newton Maximus14/06/2017
From SSW, cattle grid, the Bull Hill HP first (red flag flying, pityh anyone training in today's bitter easterly) then to Scholes, bog semi frozen but glad of the wellies.RHW12/02/2017
Ascended from Entwistle station via cattle grid near Crowthorn Farm, followed Blackburn boundary north over Scholes Height, then north-west via Edgerton Moss and Belthorn to Intack.lecube06/02/2017
Parking by the cattle grid at the end of Crowthorn Lane (alt 1164ft). After Bull Hill the route (no path) is across a large area of red fescue, indicative of acute wetness. Not too bad but be prepared for several detours around the wetter sections. If travelling from Bull Hill aim to the right of the obvious (in fine weather) of the derelict vehicle. 2.35 miles (for both hills), 70 minutes, 291 ft ascent.moorsman21/10/2016
With Jo, circular walk from Crowthorn: road, b/w, moorland to Scholes Height, then moorland to Bull Hill, onto Peel Tower (excellent views from top), returning along b/w past Lark Hill. Weather; sunny, warm, good visibility.amblerbob29/08/2016
From Crowthorn passed reservoir up to 'Works' on the map and up to Bury boundry. Here footpath accross the Moor disappears, followed boundr post on bearing for approx 700m to heighest point, then accross to Bull Hill and trig point not as boggey as expected then back on a bearing to get 415m contour on Bury boundry and back to beginning, with daughter and dog.Walkingthedog22/07/2016

From Bull Hill walked across Wet Moss which wasn`t too wet. Found boundary post after walking to the wrong post twice!! (Note to self take compass) Daft as you can make out the post from Bull Hill with binoculars as I discovered on the way back.mart079713/03/2016
Despite the sign near the end of Crowthorn road saying trespassers will be shot, the farmer was very friendly once he knew what you were up to. Park just over the cattle grid where there is space fro 4/5 cars. A bog trot to the summit of around 30 minutes return. Solo.bolton18/09/2015
Parked easily at end of road to S. No real path just bits and pieces.destaylor20/07/2015

Good parking just above Crowthorn Farm. Up through small quarry, over fence to track along edge. Wooden post at summit which was soggy after overnight rain. Easier than the walk to Bull Hill though.Aye Jimmy13/07/2014
