Apres orienteering in Sutton Park. | summitsup | 01/01/2019 |
Popped up here after playing with brass bar d at Rotary fun run in Walsall arboretum. Fascinating views for one used to looking this way from Shropshire! | tumpawumpa | 23/09/2018 |
Easy. Large walkers car park. Even found the top. No view too misty. | Play2End | 12/08/2018 |
After 7 months inactivity due to injury, started on this easiest of Tumps. Great views | climbingkershaw | 30/06/2018 |
4th tump of 5 today having climbed Wrottesley hill and Tettenhall wood from Albrighton then
Church hill from Wednesbury metro station i took the 79 bus to Wet Bromwich bus station and the no. 5 to Pheasey, alighting at Collingwood Drive jct then i climbed up via the main road cutting across to minor road near school then onto Beacon Way to cross the road into the country park, and over to summit and war memorial, i then investigated the highest point on the reservoir before dropping onto a track onto the main road and the nearest bus stop near service station for the next bus towards Shireoaks hill. | Dazingdale | 23/06/2018 |
A day trip down to Birmingham to collect a speaker cabinet...and 15 new hills completed on the journey :) All done by the simplest methods already given by others | the_adam | 27/01/2018 |
With the Network of Ley Hunters. | beorwulf | 09/09/2017 |
Parked down on Sutton road and walked up through woods to unbelievably stumble across 2 people having sex. Welcome to walsall | The-Z-Man | 29/08/2017 |
Did both new and former tops - needed the trig which is at the former, on a covered reservoir. | jonglew | 24/08/2017 |
Very easy to new re-located summit near memorial, not quite so to get to original one which has a trig. Found missing metal bar in fence eventually, then it's easy but long wet grass. | Aye Jimmy | 20/08/2017 |
Parked at N car park and ambled along to the south. Great views to the east | RocksRock | 10/07/2017 |
Enormous car park and short walk to memorial. | Herbert Anchovy | 06/04/2017 |
Re-visit, no access to the trig now which I assume I had in 1998. Nice to see the bandstand type memorial again | vegibagger | 27/12/2016 |
Short walk to memorial and surrounds | Bramley | 16/09/2016 |
Didn't hold out much hope for bagging this trigpoint, then my eagled eyed companion spotted a gap in the fence, initially I thought I couldn't manage it but preserved and was soon within the compound. Lots of diggers etc on site so best to double check before you enter. NIce and quite today on a bank holiday.

Walked all round the summit as it was such a lovely day. | thejackrustles | 28/08/2016 |
Visited before but not logged. This time on a 60 k cycle tour of Black Country tumps. We arrived here as the sun was setting and the domed war memorial glowed, with superb views east and west across urban scenery. Also managed the trig on nearby reservoir. Continued down through Sutton park to the Boldmere Bishop Vesey for beer and curry. | Denise | 04/08/2016 |
Last of 5 hills on a day cycle around the West Midlands. My closest Tump and visited many times before. Superb views W at sunset. War memorial with nice toposcope built on mound at high point. Note:- access roads closed to vehicles at 19:00 (earlier in winter or in adverse weather!) Visiting the trig point is a little more of a challenge. | RichardM | 04/08/2016 |
Parked nearby and walked to the summit and memorial. Walked to the quarry SW of the beacon for a look around. | AvidSockWearer | 15/07/2016 |
From the southern car park along the road to the war memorial | Mariana Trench | 28/05/2016 |
Final top of the black country region and all covered in a 24 hour period. One of the better tops in terms of view and theres plenty of open space. My overriding experience of these tops though has been the shameful blight of fly tipping all around the lanes and tops of the countryside. People of Birmingham, Wolvo, Solihul,Coventry and Walsall...Don't accept this. Shop those who do it and get your council cleaning up your beauty spots. | stig_nest | 22/04/2016 |
From North car park to War memorial and then HP. | PeterD | 22/03/2016 |
Drove up to within 50 ms of hp. Brilliant views on beautiful early spring day | Barbara Singer | 23/02/2016 |

Nice crisp clear morning. Parked on the lowest point of the car park, easy stroll to the top. Good views of future Hills. Views of Birmingham, Wolverhampton Walsall West Bromwich. and Sutton Coldfield to the east. Then had a walk around the area including Barr Beacon nature reserve. | Viroco | 14/02/2016 |
Very short walk from cp to south. | ngthack | 29/11/2015 |
Parked to the north on the car park. Walked south on the east side of the mast to the war monument. Good views. | bolton | 19/10/2015 |

Quick stop off from the M6 | rhalstead | 01/03/2014 |
Parked nearby and walked up to here at the start of my days walk. | Alancache | 30/01/2014 |
Large free car park to south side of hill.
Excellent views with a very impressive stone war memorial on/near summit. Couldn't get to trig as behind impregnable reservoir compound fencing - but as it is not the highest point not too concerned. | Hillsidenick | 17/12/2013 |
climbed with dave on the way to athlethics, dinner at the top, very peaceful | mr bounce | 29/06/2013 |
Veiwed Barr Beacon from Sedgley beacon for many years, first visit | johndeturl | 01/06/2013 |
#3 of 3 today. Getting dark by the time we got here but I'm sure it's a pleasant spot in fine weather. Memorial under restoration while highest point apparently just over the reservoir security fencing. | Newton Maximus | 16/11/2012 |
Started at car park close to top. Distance = 4.09km. Average moving speed = 5.7km/h. Time moving = 0:42:56. | paulnewby81 | 10/11/2012 |
The first and best of 3 county tops today, had a good explore of the area. | magirob | 07/11/2012 |
There's also 227 spot height (OS large scale) 120m S by E of the trig. This is next to the war memorial which has had its copper roof and indicator plaque stolen. An easy stroll from the car park. Reservoir fence impregnable. | jimbloomer | 20/07/2012 |
Done on way to Sutton Park with dog. Short stroll from parking area. Couldn't find gaps in fence, so had to climb over, 'interesting'. clear dry & breezy | apricorum | 29/06/2012 |
Couldn't find the gap on the east side but found a 'gap' on the north side. More of a hole under the fence but big enough for an adult to get under. From there had to traverse the whole reservoir complex. | garyhoney | 10/04/2012 |
Gaps still there. All very neat and tidy - fine place. | destaylor | 13/01/2012 |
By war memorial. | arranc | 19/08/2011 |
