From Chadwell Heath station (Elizabeth Line): Mark's Gate, Havering Atte Bower Church, Havering Atte Bower farm and Cabin Hill. Went through 3 parks, Havering Forest, Bedfords Park and Hainault on local parts of the London loop. Surprisingly quiet, open countryside on a lovely spring dayLazylizzie17/03/2024

By rail, tube and bus to Chase Cross, then a walk up the road to Havering-atte-Bower. Very pleasant on a moonlit evening. Visited the SE of the churchyard, the Green outside Holly Tree Cottage, and the verge by the turning to Havering Farm.Nick Down119/02/2019
A pleasant, flattish, top. had lunch sitting on one of the benches in brilliant sunshine. I don't think I can add anything to what has been said previously. On a round from Harold Wood station of the Havering tops and a couple of trig pillars. Also some blocked paths and a lot of mud.Sixtyplus15/02/2019

Positively rural after the night in Romford. Great village sign and unusual arch and main entrance under church tower. Overcast and dull. High point at SE corner of church yard though road at SW corner of Green is very similar height.RichardM11/04/2018

Parked near church, walked down through havering country park to the west end of the forest for striking view of the London skyline, then ascended to the summit in the beautiful church grounds, one or two grassy lumps by gravestones, and the green where I had elevenses before driving over to scrub hill in Brentwood. This was a very pleasant hill, made all the more interesting with the forest walk beforehand.pdantic06/07/2015
From wiki:The name Havering is recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 meaning settlement of the followers of a man called Hæfer. The atte Bower suffix means at the royal residence and refers to Havering Palace, which was situated here. The West London equivalent to Havering-atte-Bower is Old Windsor in Berkshire, which had a Saxon Palace that predated Windsor Castle. Edward the Confessor would have travelled to and from his palaces at both Havering-atte-Bower and Old Windsor.Chris Pearson11/03/2015
