From Black Chew Head. Path shown on 1:25000 map from Laddow Moss is now very watery due to the creation of flood prevention bunds. Easy enough to get round these new ponds. Descended to Crowden via very muddy path on W bank or Hollins Clough. KeithByTheC07/03/2024

Via Oaken Clough which is a decent scramble, albeit very wet today. Even wetter on the plateau as it rained torrentially. Final Ethel.Nick Canute09/05/2023

Reached from Dove stone reservoir car park £4 all day on a Twelve and half mile walk taking in the Ethel summits of Ashway moss, Featherbed moss, Black chew head, and Alphin pike. The ROW over the moor to Chew reservoir is hard to follow so probably best to follow the edge round to the reservoir.WAYNE ROWLETT09/10/2022
From Crowden via Lads Leap to Featherbed Moss then on to Black Chew Head back on the Pennine Way with Mary and Nell the dog.Glenelg29/07/2022
Did Featherbed Moss and the County top of Greater Manchester with my cousin. Started very late at midday due to the 9 and a half hour walk the day before doing South Yorkshire's County Top. Quite technical going up one of the little streams and up a crag to get on the plateau. Very boggy walk as well walking too 4 Spot Heights towards Black Chew Head.DavidHiner30/06/2022
4/5 From Wessenden Head we walked along the road to collect West Nab then back onto the Pennine Way up to Black Hill (Revisit) and followed it down towards Crowden to use as a ramp up onto Black Chew Head and along easy path to Featherbed Moss. Then back u to Black Hill (Revisit of the Revisit) and out on the Footpath South West to get White Low which looks miles but walks out and back very well in under an hour. So therefore we Revisited the revisit of the revisit of Black Hill (getting a bit silly now) and finally decided to go home. A lovely round in a very cool June wind.nickywood104/06/2022

loop from Crowden car park. Thankfully not as wet as forecast. White Low, Black Hill, Black Chew Head and finally Featherbed Moss. All on decent tracks and paths, with a few damp bits, but nothing too wet. 17.2km, 4hrs 15 minsNicky C08/04/2021
Parked at Woodhead Reservoir car park at SK 08178 99347, as A628 closed. Walked down into Crowden and around the campsite, taking an old road SW up to join the Pennine Way north. After Oaken Clough, headed east up onto the plateau to the summit post on Black Chew Head. Then followed a bit of a path SW to the trig point on the summit of Featherbed Moss - an insurance policy in case of LIDAR tampering! Then headed back to join a RoW down to re-join the Pennine Way south back into Longdale. Solo. 13.3km, with 465m of ascent. 5hrs 0mins.Man of Kernow101/10/2020
