Logged Descriptions  (logged by 37 users)ByDate of Ascent
From CP beside Broch cafe in Strathyre. Obvious path to NN568154, up logging track to NN573179 and good path winding eastwards, cutting the corner on the logging track. New gate through deer fence just short of radio mast and short distance cross-country to Sgiath a Chaise. North along ridge following old fence line (including convenient hole in deer fence) to North Top and Meall nan Oighreag. Gate and collapsed deer fence at NN577198 and back via tracks. Looked for the same 1:25000 track as mentioned by Topographer 57: couldn't find it either, so back down by the track to Coille MacCaskill path and back down to the start.TRG31811/04/2024
Last of round of four summits from Strathyre. Beware of a track shown on 25K map north of Allt Chreagain descending from 360m to 200m, it has been taken over by wild spruce and is now impassable. One Garmin Etrex GPS lost between Sgiath a'Chaise and Meall nan Oighreag, likely on tussocky ground but maybe, just maybe someone will read this and find it.Topographer5726/02/2024
From Strathyre, forest tracks all the way to the stream sw of the summit. Up the edge of the deer fence then over the top deer fence. Small section of bog before the top.Tisteln03/01/2024
No parking at start of tk at NN601224 (or on the South Loch Earn Road which is a clearway with small signs and no yellow lines). Up tk S to fork and zig zag to upper tk. Up this to 4m wide ride marked by an old wooden post with a small blue triangle. Up good ride to forest edge at another old blue triangle stake. Wooden posts of an old fence are now lying horizontal in one hundred percent swamp. Terrain away from trees is severe tuddy blussocks and peat bogs, least worst going is to keep close to the trees. Followed old iron posts N down from summit, good for 100m then these led into a labyrinth of tussocks, peat bogs and even through the middle of a lochan, awful going, so gave up and retreated back to the edge of the treesIsbjorn06/10/2023
From end of road S of Kingshouse. Track to top of quarry. Traces of overgrown track to top forest road. At 87468 19758 there is a lovely mossy track up to a gate in the deer fence. Then grass, heather and peat hags to the top.chrisbien27/02/2023
From parking S of Kingshouse (Mhor 84). Cycled up zig zags to beyond the quarry, but missed, or could see the roads either side. Straight up through trees, to upper road, and more trees to deer fence. Descended SW, to road to mast. Found good small tracks through the felled area W of the skinny mast, and down to the Rob Roy Way track and the quarry. Another speedy descent back to the car.Minto19/01/2022
From Edinample to the North up forest roads. Met a friendly chap in a 4x4 who told me of the forest ride from 58575 19805 (Cut branches there) to 58080 19832. The driest way apparently but still one boggy section. Then 800m by old metal posts and peat hags to top. 9k , 3 hours.NormanW30/08/2021
Quite a long walk to this one. No paths. Retraced my steps back to the north top of Sgiath a’ Chaise then descended on grassy slopes to join the path back to Loch Lubnaig. Solo.Dangerous Dave13/07/2021
Sgiath a'Chaise from Loch Lubnaig. Bit of a slog!thekirkie pirate19/11/2020
Another local social distancing walk. From end of tarmac on the old military road S of Mhor 84. By forest roads to just before the quarry, then cutting through the trees on overgrown paths and trees to a gate in the deer fence NW of MnO, along the ridge to the N Top of SC, with two herds of deer for company, over another deer fence gate to the forest road descending from the radio mast, past a second mast and steeply down along narrow gravel tracks and through forest to the forest road near the quarry, now closed for the evening and back to the start.Nick Down110/04/2020
5 top round from parking in layby at ardchullarie mains, creag a gheata, meall mor, sqiath a chaise, sqiath a chaise north top, meall nan oighreag, down to strathyre via tracks, paths, fire breaks and clear fell areas, to pick up the bike for a cycle back to the carrobertphillips18/08/2018
Creag a' Gheata, Meall Mor, Sgiath a' Chaise, Sgiath a' Chaise North Top, Meall nan Oighreag from S. Fine still and warm December day with excellent views to snow speckled peaks and mist in glens.RobertP21/12/2017
Completing the Earn catchment area. From the North via forest track and then clearance along burn through forest.richtea504002/08/2017
After Sgiath a' Chaise and other Tumps on the ridge, followed by a tedious drop through the forest to strathyre and a flog along the road back to Ardchullarie MoreColin Crawford27/03/2017
#5 of 15 clockwise from Ardchullarie More, with Andrew Tibbetts. Descended SSE along forest edge then back via the Each tops. Lots of deer today, bellowing stags.RHW22/10/2016
There is a stone at what I think is the highest point, judging from purely visual observations. The summit area is rather flat.pwbellarby13/09/2015
From Ardchullarie and Glen Ample track. Snowshoed 7k there and back along ridge with Holly and Jenny. Lovely sunny, windy, day with great viz. 4 1/2 hoursalexmaclennan24/01/2015
