Thurs 9th Feb. Sunshine and almost windless, chairlift to Ptarmigan cafe up and over cairngorm summit. View and clarity is stunning, must be 80/90 miles out to Sgurr na Ciche, Wyvis and probably Klibreck. Gingerly down steepening slopes looking down on frozen loch Avon over A' Choinneach and summit of Bynack More and over Bynack beag and down NW shoulder down to nethy Burn and over shoulder in increasing dusk and bitter coldness. Came across a herd of very young deer who'd obviously not yet learnt to be fearful of man. I stood still and one came up to sniff my hand, then another came right up to me, bent its head down and playfully nudged me with its soft downy 'milk'antlersvegibagger09/02/1995
Day trip from Stonehaven. Solo. After ascending Meall a' Bhuachaille and Creag Mhòr. From the summit of Creag Mhòr I followed compass bearings to top of point 860m (SW of main summit of Creag Mhòr), south end of Lochan a' Bhainne, and reached bank of burn flowing from near summit of A' Chòinneach. Burn is in a gorge with steep sides burn in a series of small cascades over rock. At ~860m I crossed the burn and went up to summit area of A' Chòinneach. A few cairns form a cairn at the southern end. The highest point has a cairn and is towards the north end. There is a further cairn a little further north.pwbellarby01/10/1994

The leg over A'Choinneach was the best part of the walk for me, past Bynack Barns-more interesting tors; the descent from A'Choinneach was excellent- a very easy ridge with magnificent views to Loch Avon and its corrie in front.pwheeler28/05/1994
