Circuit with camping from Linn of Dee taking in tops on E side then W side of Glen Derry. Climbed Meall an Lundain from south, trackless terrain, continued along ridge to climb Beinn Bhreac and Beinn Bhreac West Top. Crossed quite boggy ridge to climb Beinn a' Chaorainn Bheag, bypassed Beinn a' Chaorainn itself on descent to high point of Lairig an Laoigh. Steep climb to Stob Coire Etchachan, and easy ground to Beinn Mheadhoin SW Top and the excellent vantage point of Stacan Dubha. Descended to Loch Etchachan and climbed Creagan a' Choire Etchachan, across to Sgurr an Lochan Uaine. Bypassed Derry Cairngorm on way to Little Cairngorm and then Carn Crom. Descent to Derry Lodge and back to Linn of Dee. Quite cold biting wind for much of route but views generally good with most summits reasonably clear for much of the time.RobertP30/08/2023

Revisit to Derry Cairngorm walking over the hills missed last time. Carn Crom, Derry Cairngorm, Sgurr an Lochan Uaine, Creagan a Choire Etchachan. In Nov 1979 it was full on winter with so much snow that I did not realise Derry Cairngorm was a bouldery hill... and the paths were less obvious or not even there. My map still does not show many of the paths. Quite an eye opener.sarahk28/08/2022

Cairngorm Club weekend meet at Muir Cottage. With two fellow members I had reached Derry Cairngorm. I continued alone in whiteout conditions with very strong wind to reach Sgùrr an Lochain Uaine and then Creagan a’ Choire Etchachan. I descended NW and returned to Linn of Dee via Hutchison hut and Glen Derry. I came out of the mist above the hut. Above that there was so much snow it was impossible to tell where any path or burn was.pwbellarby12/02/1994

Various ascents of these hills. This one solo on a clear day from ski car park via Sron an Aonaich to Cairn Gorm. Picked off tops as far as Cairn Lochan & the across the plateau to Ben Macdui. Dropped E & collected Derry Cairngorm & tops & then on to Loch Etchachan & up to Beinn Mheadhoin & its tops. Had a look at the Shelter Stone, rounded the loch & slogged up Coire Raibert, passed underneath Cairn Gorm & used the unsightly track back to the car park. Repeated this round with Shaky on 29/8/05.NotReallyABagger12/09/1989
