From Glen Quaich along Rob Roy Way path. Steep ascent up heather and blaeberry (and some grass) slope to the coll from Lochan Uaine area. Trodden path from coll alongside fence. Electric fences had to be negotiated in order to reach the summit. Back to coll and on to Creag Grianain, Meall Mor, and Geal Charn. Descent down landrover track to Achnafauld.Fife Walking24/03/2024
From Glen Quaich, went up from Glen Lochan. Very steep ascent. Returned by Meall Mor, great except for (defunct?) electric deer fence.Richard Tait15/03/2024
From Achnafauld via track and ridge.Winterfloodian07/01/2024
From Newton Bridge, tracks most of the way to Conichan Castle, then round to Sron Bealaidh, Beinn na Gainimh, Creag Grianain, Meall Mor, Geal Charn, Meall Reamhar and steep descent back to Newton.TRG31807/06/2023
From Newton Bridge car park, via Crom Creag, Meall Reamhar, Geal Charn, Meall Mor & Creag Grianain. Path on NW of fence. Had to cross fence (double electric, not on) to get to summit of Beinn na Gainimh. Short heather, a few small peat hags but no problem. Descent over Sron Bealaidh and down to track just W of ford. Should have continued over Conichan Castle and avoided burnt heather that scratched & striped my legs black! 5km walk out on hard track. Track descent was quite steep, then walked on grass on edge of track to save feet. 24km of glorious mountains!Lynnebe24/05/2023

Meall Mor, Creag Grianain & Beinn na Gainimh from Croftmill. Steep path less descent to Glen Lochan. With Mntainman.Dangerous Dave04/12/2022
Afternoon start for 2nd walk of day. From Glenquaich Lodge along track to foot of Creag Grianin; across stream and up its W flank to the col then along by the electric fence to its highpoint. Through the fence with the help of my walking pole handle and jogged over to the highest part of the plateau. Back the same way.IanHHill21/08/2022
Parked in gravel yard by green-clad building at Auchnafauld. Track 100 yards E leads almost onto the ridge, which I followed over Meall Mor SE Top, Meall Mor, the cheese wedge summit of Creag Grianain (the best top of the day), Beinn na Gainimh and Sron Bealadh, before cutting down NW over heathery slopes to the lochan at the col on the Rob Roy way and following the Way to the road at Croftmill.Nick Down118/04/2022
1/3 Cycled down Auchnafree road and took bike up hydro/grouse road on SE side of hill. Left it at c 450m, walked rest of way out and back over other top. All summits around clear, cold breeze (temp at van 2C), lots of interesting high cloud. Rounsfell25/11/2021
From Creag Grianain, which was well worth doing. Extremely windy - was worried my walking poles were going to get blown away. Descended to NW, which was straightforward.sclater07/11/2021
From Newton bridge along track towards Auchnafree farm, right at 852319, up hillside to Sron Bealaidh to summit. Return same route. Red kites and rainbows on way down.MichaelF27/09/2021
Route from Newton Bridge over hills to N of Glen Almond. Walked short distance N along A822 to bridge leading to open hillside. Followed stream running NW to upper slopes of Meall Reamhar and on to summit. Camped close to summit. Continued on to Geal Charn (including possible alternative top c 500m S), then Meall Mor, the fine summit of Creag Grianain and finally the flat summit of Beinn na Gainimh. Descended via SE ridge to Glen Almond in increasing sunshineRobertP29/08/2021
From Auchnafree Hill. Straight down the track mostly north, NNE. The River Almond was low so plodged through the ford rather than diverting via Larichfraskhan. Large herd of deer seen, probably 50-80 of them. Up the zig zag track from Auchnafree to the 510m contour, from where an ATV track goes steeply up to grouse butts at 650m. Steeply up to the plateau, then a faint path to the summit. Plentiful red grouse and mountain hares and an electric fence (switched on!) which required crawling under. Descended by faint paths SSE to the ridge end then steeply down to the track. Down to the main track and back to the car at Newton Bridge, accompanied by goosanders and a large heron.Owen B10/07/2021
Parked on verge E of Croftmill in Glen Quaich, followed tracks past Croftmill to summit plateau of Meall nam Fuaran (not clear exactly where that is, but the spot height on OS 1:25000 is probably very close), then S along line of crags, before dropping down steeply to the high point of Glen Lochan, crossed and up the slopes to summit of Beinn na Gainimh (crossing a double electric fence en route, for the first of 4 times), continuing along ridge line to Creag Grianain and then Meall Mor, descending N at first, then steeply down to dam at E end of Lochan a' Mhuilinn, crossing river near spillway, followed track back to Croftmillkdbennett25/04/2021

From Newton Bridge, with Jojo Neff.clashcityrocker19/07/2020
As per the Grahams and Donalds book from parking spot about 150m NW of Glenquaich lodge, followed track, then sheep tracks along wall and up onto Meall Mor. Followed path by fence to Creag Grianan, then down to col and up onto Beinn na Gainimh. Easy crossing point of electric fence where it goes down to 2 wires on plateau. Descended back to col then a sort of diagonal/ zig-zag descent using various deer and sheep tracks back to main track. The descent wasn't as bad as it looked from above, plenty grassy spots to aim for between the rocks.JulieB30/12/2019
A morning round of the three tops SE of Rob Roy Way in Glen Lochan before heading home. Overcast but cloud lifted from summit ahead of me as I headed up track to a short way before the bealach when I saw a relatively heather free line. Beinn na gainimh (G);Creag Grianain(Gt) and Meall Mor(Gt). managed to puck out a grassy rake between the badly eroding slopes of second top. Other than this the day was enlivened by crossing a live electric fence three times - once before each top.dickscroop28/08/2019
From the north, circular route including crossing of electric fence. Don't think it was turned on but I avoided touching it anyway. Lots of lapwings and curlews.Grinner07/04/2019
Parked at Newton Bridge (11:45). Bike up glen to track junction at 851318 (12:10). Walked up track to castle (12:45) and on to Beinn na Gainimh. Overcast and hazy. Crawled under electric fence to 725 point; steeply down W to track & glen. Up river, crossed bridge, then up track to summit of Auchnafree Hill, just in cloud. Some drizzle on descent E then NE past Eagle's Rock to bridge and back to bike (18:10) and car (18:25).dbb23/07/2018
A lovely stroll along Glen Almond, then up the hill on a land rover track towards Conichan Castle, in excellent condition despite its steepness. From the highest point of the track, up through the rocks and small crags was gruesome, in shaggy heather, but there’s a good path along the top of the hill, with various cairns, and then, on the plateau, a series of marker posts through the hags and bogs, helpful in the rain and mist. Found an electric fence on Sron Bealaidh, which seems unlikely to be functional given that it’s earthed in numerous places, which made a neat navigational handrail over the first top, down, and then up towards the summit. Thick mist had me sticking to the fence to its highest point, and then a sort of half arsed box search (not needing a compass) to find the cairn and my 1000th Marilyn. Navigation down was dead easy; back along the fence to Sron Bealaidh and then one bearing does the job nicely.Gill03/05/2018
From Newton Bridge plenty of parking. Took track beside river. Nice friendly locals. One checked if we knew a f’in howler was forecast for the afternoon. We did & made haste 4 hours 24 in snow following track as far as we could up hill.rogreeves02/04/2018

Short break in Crief. Climbed up from the Lochan on Rob Roy Way and it is a steep old hill. Back the same way.nickywood116/07/2017

Parked opposite the entrance to Glenquaich Lodge on the verge. Sign says no parking but legally room for one car. Followed track past recent pipeline workings up past frozen Lochan Mhuilinn then to flats around Lochan Uiane. Steeply up the ridge to col beteween Graham and top Grianain. Steep hard old snow provided a staircase to flat heathery sunnit.nordicstar15/02/2015

Solo. Wanted to ascend from Loch Freuchie side of these hills but found no where to park as well as wind farm activity. Started from the car park at Newton Bridge instead. Walked west and then north on track before ascending hillside to Sròn Bealaidh and Beinn na Gainimh. Summit of latter on my side of double electrified fence. Continued to Creag Grianain where I found I did have to cross the fence; it was not powered up. This fence goes for a considerable distance and I crossed it a few times thereafter. Came to summit of Meall Mòr. The name Meall Mòr appears on OS maps someway to the NE of the summit, suggesting that the name is not really intended to apply to the summit. Went over the summit of Geal Charn and then Meall Reamhar. Maps showed crags to S so descended SW.pwbellarby11/04/2014

The sun actually shone for a while, however normality returned with rain later. From Croftmill. Love the way the electric fence adds to the visual experience.Martin R26/10/2011
From Croftmill to the NE along Rob Roy Way. Then steep ascent to the R of the cliffs aiming for a square cairn on skyline on Creag Grianain (not at the summit). Good viewpoint over cliffs and lake. Continued to Beinn na Gainimh.Aye Jimmy02/05/2011

Parked just before the houses on the longish straight. Misty, cold, calm, no views after 250m. 2013 repeat - partly sunny, high cloud, few showers, cool wind, good views.iangalbraith10/02/2008
