I parked near Birkhall then followed forest roads up hill as far as possible before struggling through stumps and brash to the col. The hill above the trees was a delight, all on rock with occasional trees. A pity about the blasting wind. On to Meall DubhColin Crawford28/02/2024

From ENE, parked on Muick road to avoid driving round, walked across the Forbidden Bridge, mapped tracks, mapped firebreak to gate at NO 3365 9213, up thru nice open pinewood, rocky on final approach to summit cairn.RHW30/09/2023

For reasons unknown i did not visit this top when in area 2 years ago. Given the morning rain and wind decided the shelter of the forest would be a good plan. Up tracks then up through trees to the west, this was generally fine although a few felled trees. A very nice summit with clear views as the clouds receeeded. A slightly more direct route back through trees with no complications. The lower forest and track did have extensive wind blown trees though.cjo13/03/2022

Via forest track, accidentaly over this, back down into valley and up to Coyles in snow. Pleasant in trees, good view of next objective.iangalbraith05/05/2021
On the way down from Coyles of Muick. Lots of fallen trees but easy to thread a route between them through pleasant woodland to a fine little summit. Little bit of clambering on a short-cut to the track down to NE.alda21/04/2021
Set off from track end at Loch Ullachie on a still, clear and cold day. After recent snow fall unsure of what conditions would be like up high. Not quite as much new snow as expected but still hard going in places. Creag Phiobaidgh first, Tom an Lagain and follow tree line to Meall Dubh and on to The Coyles of Muick. Retraced steps to 917327 to pick up end of track in woods passing a smart hide. Direct ascent of Creag of Loinmuie and descent NE to forest track. Followed this on obvious vehicle route along side of hill. After locked gate took left hand fork to return to B976 a few hundred yards short of car.sarahk23/01/2021
After Coyles -from the good stalker path along and outside top edge of forest another good path leads in to the forest for 50 metres to a locked cabin (for stalkers) with big windows and a wood burning stove. Landrover track continues further 100m then easily up over now mossy glacier plucked slabs of summit dome. Down north -combo awkwardness of trees, grass, marsh, windblown to upward track. Found 2 shopping receipts on track -disgraceful littering- by coincidence they were from same 2 supermarkets as we use. Doh - they were my receipts -dropped on my upward leg when looking at map which I had protected from rain in a Tesco carrier bag used as an improvised map case.Chris Pearson05/10/2020
Much easier than expected. Track from NE - ends approx. NO 329 923. Up rough ride to forest edge. Good path up edge forest to The Coyles of Muick (Marilyn). Direct thru' open forest via spot height 513 on map. Return to track to NW -open forest with band windthrow - not difficult.carole engel05/07/2020
Up forest track alongside Corrie Burn from ne. Track disappears with recent replantation. Final steep ascent from east. Rocky summit. Snowing.Campbell Singer07/05/2019

The forest is quite open at the west edge, making it a relatively easy ascent from Meall Dubh.summitter21/07/2018

Up Glen Girnock, river crossing - easy under normal conditions, then up onto Meall Dubh. Followed by The Coyles of Muick, Craig of Loinmuie. Then down ridge on reasonable path, over Carn a Bhealaidh, Creag Liath. Left path to go over Tom an Lagain and onto Craig Phiobaidh, descent down to road at Littlemill.clashcityrocker06/02/2016
