#2 of 5 from N, Bridge of Tanar. After Tom Ghiubhais, descended E from summit, heather heavy going but good track found as mapped. Paddled across Water of Allachy OK, deep heather ascent to CraigmahandleRHW28/12/2021
A muirburn (moor burn)'training exercise' on the SW slopes of this hill by the Glen Tanar estate got out of control in April 2018 and swept off the moorland into the Caledonian pines (SSI / National Nature Reserve) burning 13 ha of the 4000 ha of trees in Glen Tanar, before thankfully being brought under control with the help of neighbouring estates and the fire rescue service. A statement from the estate says - 'heather is fire adapted and Scots Pine is partially fire adapted, so we are hoping that most of the area will recover'. http://parkswatchscotland.co.uk/2018/06/11/glen-tanar-fire/Chris Pearson22/09/2019
