Carn Dearg SE Top (and Carn Dearg) from Glen Banchor. Solo - walked W along minor road and kept following it alongside the River Calder after it turned into a track, then eventually a path (fain in parts). At Allt Ballach, I crossed and headed NW across rough terrain to the SE base of Cairn Macoul and then basically headed directly up that. Rough and steep-ish, this eventually crested on the summit. Visited the cairn, then header North to the ridge of Carn Dearg via a drop of around 50m before ascending up to Card Dearg SW Top. Snow above 800m and quite a few ptarmigans in winter plumage, but not much in the way of views thanks to the low cloud. Decided to return via Carn Dearg then usual route back down to Glen Ballach and following the boggy mess back around to Gleann Fionndrigh where a decent track took me back to the road, and then back to the car. Total time 5h 17min.mproudfoot11/11/2023
