Parked just E of bridge over River Nairn for a circuit of 7 Simms and 1 HF. Several tracks not on OS 1:50k are shown on OpenStreetMap. 8/8 | PGCE | 20/06/2021 |
Started from the telephone box on the B851 and down the private estate road towards Dunmaglass Lodge. Before reaching the lodge we took a left fork along the Turbine Track to a bridge over the main river. A loose stone path gave us access through a woodland to the north west flank of Beinn Mheadhoin, from which it was simply a battle against the strengthening wind to the summit. Next went SE down to rejoin the Turbine Track, shoes and socks off to cross the snowy/icy Allt Cailtidh, then to the even snowier and windier Beinn Bhuidhe trig. Headed home via Garbhal Mor, following a fence line most of the way. Forest rides eventually enabled us to get back onto the B851 - but not a recommended route. | summitter | 29/02/2020 |
