Logged Descriptions  (logged by 20 users)ByDate of Ascent
From road end along to the bridge and easily up the NE ridge of Thuilm to Fhir-eoin. Nasty slabs directly below the summit so better to go along to first flattening of the col beyond and take a grassy rake that leads below and right (or to end of col and straight down). Steep but straightforward ascent of Chomhlain (great views of Streap from here and Fhir-eoin). Nice ridge along to Carnaich then more or less straight down to the tussocky and brackeny Tom na h-Iolaire. Rather than cut back to the bridge and through the wood I went through the tussocks to the island at NM977910 where a quick wade in gaiters got me across dry though pretty wet ground on the far side up the edge of the Dessary so really only worth doing at the end of the day rather than the start.StueyB12/09/2023

nice little rocky summit, omitted to log details till later. TGO Challenge: Lochailort to Strathan RHW14/05/2006
Cairngorn Club ‘Easter’ meet based at Spean Bridge Hotel. From end of the Loch Arkaig road. Solo. Having climbed Sgurr Thuilm, descended the NE ridge over Meall an Fhìr-eòin. Crossed a footbridge over the River Pean at the foot of Gleann a’ Chaorainn. I did not go into the forest at first, but this was a bad choice as the ground was very boggy. Crossed a stile and came to a ruined building. Went through forest with some difficulty to an enclosure and the outward track. Weather excellent - sunny all day with a cool breeze. It was still frosty high up, even at mid-day.pwbellarby06/04/2002
DoE group of 16 teenagers, 2 other adults and me. Had camped in Glen Pean near Strathan, did Thuilm on a sunny clear day (but with lots of insects, including one tick we had to remove from a pupil), warm, good but slightly hazy views.NorfolkPT2129/05/1994
With Jonathan Bellarby. We departed at 09:10 from Loch Arkaig road end and went via Meall an Fhìr-eòin to Sgurr Thuilm, arriving at the summit at 12:30. We went down to the bealach with Streap (Bealach a’ Chaorainn) and then down Gleann a’ Chaorainn. We arrived at the car at 18:15. There was mist above 400m continuously.pwbellarby14/07/1983
