I drove to Tomdoun expecting to meet two friends, but mobile phone not getting good reception, so I wasn't sure what they were doing. Went along the road and found one of their cars at the point where the road crosses Allt a' Ghobhainn. A stalkers' path goes northwards from here giving access to the north side of Spidean Mialach. I knew the plan was to approach Spidean Mialach and Gleouraich from the north so I assumed they had followed the stalkers' path. I did not know what time they had set off so I shortened my walk, expecting to see them somewhere on the ridge connecting the two hills. I walked up the stalkers' path to the bealach and then went west to reach the summit of Glac Raineach. Continued to reach the summit of Spidean Mialach, over a minor bump and down to the bealach with Gleouraich. There I met them! They had come up the stalkers' path from the north, which goes up to a point a little east of the bealach and does not end lower down as the map suggests. | pwbellarby | 27/06/2006 |
