2/10: 4hr 20 min solo afternoon circuit (after dog walking duties) from Kerrera jetty linking 10 closely packed small hills on the southern fringes of Oban. Short stiff pull up from west - but easy enough going here with jog down unmarked track down to mast but coming up next - much rough moorland, dead bracken, forests, random fire breaks, and a reservoir to loop around. Good views from here to Kerrera Island or 'Craggy Island' as it has been rebranded by the annual triathalon that attracted hundreds of competitors in September to swim 600m in the sea around its sheltered yachting marina, bike and run. I've read its possible to swim to Kerrera - personally I'd pay the £1.70 Cal Mac ferry charge any time. | Chris Pearson | 12/11/2023 |
From the radio tower to the SW, up the unmapped track that starts to the right of the locked compound. To drive there, you MUST go past the Kerrera ferry. The road along the south-east side of Druim Mor seems to be permanently closed. | Pete R | 21/07/2023 |
From radio tower, easy stroll up track almost all the way to top. A grand spot to watch the world go by | stig_nest | 28/08/2022 |
From bend to SW, track up behind comms compound which goes almost all the way to the top. | PeterD | 23/05/2019 |
From Oban via High Street, Glenmore Road, and track to television mast, then south-westwards along ridge to summit. Cold, getting milder; overcast, but dry; no wind. Hazy views all round. Down track south-westwards to communications mast and onwards to Dùn Uabairtich. | mainnirnamfiadh | 02/01/2019 |
Debs and Tali. From the Kerrera ferry, passing time before heading to Barra due to weather delayed ferry. | Mountain Goat | 21/09/2018 |
Coming from Oban I reached Pulpit Hill, then the communication mast by a forestry road. From there starts a small track on the right of the mast which reaches the summit mainly following the ridge. A barbed wire fence blocks it but can be passed with a diversion on the left | Pampuco | 28/08/2018 |
With Darren Giddins from coll to south | vegibagger | 11/05/2018 |
1st hill of 8 with Charles E, having collected me from my Airbnb in Soroba, we parked in a layby next to the Transmission mast, walked around it and up a grassy track veering off for the high point. I recorded 139m @ NM 84074 28210. We didnt have quite enough time for another mainland tump so made sure we were in time for the next ferry to Kerrera, our next target.. | Dazingdale | 11/05/2018 |
HP is outcrop on ridge of short grass, no cairn. gusty wind and overcast but good views. within sheep pasture. | Denise | 18/04/2018 |

After dun Uabartich. followed ridge line. Back to car parked at mast. Would have been pleasant evening stroll | Thearlaichdubh | 15/03/2017 |
barr cruinn, dun uabairtich and druim mor from parking at the mast before ferry to kerrera. | robertphillips | 13/12/2015 |
Up from Oban past communications mast about 850289 and along ridge. Path mainly on seaward side at first, but blocked at 846286 by new-looking posts and barbed wire. Necessary to drop some tens of metres to left (south-east) to gate. Descent from summit by track to communications mast about 837277, making for Bàrr Cruinn. | mainnirnamfiadh | 08/07/2015 |
Parked by mast, track almost to summit. Lovely hill. Then W to Uabairtich. Quick bag before Staffa / Lunga trip. | RHW | 11/05/2014 |
Rained off Marilyns inland, from Kerrera ferry walked up old road track and picked up two tops. Walked on to aerial mast on fine tops and turned back to start. | nordicstar | 03/01/2014 |
After pitching the tent and to get away from the midgies and ducks decided on an evening walk. Great views. | Play2End | 09/07/2006 |
