Wowed by the steepness of the main road climbing up here from Corgarff (with its startlingly white tower house castle) and the onward boldness of the line of this Wade old military road going straight up the desolate moorland ridge with no deviation to cross the Lecht. No wonder this road is one of the first to be blocked by snow each winter (locals say often blocked anytime from October to April). Keeps the snow ploughs busy to get the skiers in. The nearby viewpoint car park looks down to the castle and has installed eye catching imaginative art work called The Watchers. A jam of cars were halted there. One gent was flying a drone and sent it over to 'watch' over me - capturing on film no doubt my brief unspectacular return plod to the track high point- riveting viewing of this oddest of short hill walks. I've chased a dropped glove further on a windy day.Chris Pearson23/09/2020

Easy walk on track in pouring rain. Should of course be done during a bike crossing of the Lecht. One day? Looks like a proper hill from across the glen.fasgadh25/07/2020
