From Glen Trool Upper car park. Wet feet crossing Gairland Burn. Along the Rig of Jarkness. Solo. | Dangerous Dave | 28/01/2023 |
From Bruces Stone out Gairland Burn path, easy crossing then a line became a tod became a path as I headed up to Rig of the Jarkeness. Bit messy at subsidiary top. Returned by doubling back to a shelf that dropped to the south ridge (west of main south ridge). Good going once on slab but tough once you got off it. Headed to high point on SUW then back to car. | SS | 15/09/2022 |
Walked up from Bruce's Stone. Pitched tent at Loch Valley and nipped up Craiglee and it's N Top. There are animal/human tracks most of the way along the Rig of the Jarkness. | sclater | 19/03/2022 |
From the upper Glen Trool car park (NX 4159 8046). SUW to Glenhead, then headed off piste over saturated ground with all burns in full spate in a roughly due E direction to Mid Lump, then NE up to here. On to the main top for a Dumfries and Galloway 'all hills' completion. Moral support provided by Adrian. | jonglew | 02/10/2021 |

Done with Poppy. Low cloud, strong wind and a total bog-trot | Mountain3000 | 20/02/2019 |
9th top of 11 on an epic traverse from the Forest drive near Loch Riecawr to the Minor lane leading from Caldons towards Glen Trool, climbing Macaterick, Hoodens Hill, Mullwharcher, Dungeon Hill, Craignairny, Craig Neldricken, Craignaw and Meaul, re-crossing the Mid Burn to head up the West side of Loch Narroch, and it was on this climb that I struggled, very friably and steep slope (in retrospect using the Rig of Jarkness would have been a better option) eventually reaching less steep ground to explore a series of undulating outcrops. Not sure the top is where stated, as ground to the West (+400m) looked pretty high but was too far to deviate to so just climbed all contenders within the vicinity, continuing to Craiglee.... | Dazingdale | 11/10/2018 |
From Craignaw to east of Brocklochs, steep slope and SE towards this summit. Walked over several points! 5th of day. Solo. | bolton | 07/05/2018 |
Bagged after climbing Craig Lee. With MT. | Sprog | 05/06/2016 |
Parked at the end of Glen Trool then walked to the south beach of Loch Neldrickery before climbing NE to Craignaw with Chris Watson. Then we headed south via Snibe Hill and Craiglee N Top to Craiglee before returning via the Rig of Jarkness. | Dugswell2 | 04/06/2016 |
glen trool suw then direct over rough ground back rig of the jarkness. | robertphillips | 13/08/2015 |
Continuation of walk from the main top. Dropped down to bealach and easily up to summit tor. Left AT there to continue his walk north, descending to Dow Loch and down the Rig of the Jarkness on a faint path, crossing Gairland Burn to join path round Buchan Hill back to the car park. | Man of Kernow1 | 05/06/2015 |
