Backpacking round from Innerleithen, parking in woodland car park just to N of bridge over the Tweed. Joined Southern Upland way at Traquair, then diverted to Blake Muir. Continued to Deuchar Law then WSW to find forest ride (start of originally planned path blocked by row of felled trees) heading to Bught Rig and down to use footbridge across Douglas Burn near bottom of Ritty Cleuch (not shown on map). Climbed curving ridge to Deepslack Knowe. Continued W over rough ground to reach beallach S of Black Law and continued to Conscleuch Head and Broomy Law. Contoured round to Henderland Hill and descended E to Old Kirkstead, crossing Kirkstead Burn with footbidge. Followed track through Dryhope (farm) to reach Southern Upland Way. Diverted to climb Ward Law, and descended NNE to rejoin the Way. Crossed the bridge at Craighope and climbed Craig Hill N Top. Contunued by fence N to rejoin the Way and reverse outward route. Rain for much of route and misty at times.RobertP07/10/2023
Anti clockwise round of Kirkstead Burn from east end of St Mary's Loch. Mostly following vague ATV tracks along the fence line but hard going in places.daviemore24/04/2023
Layby parking at St Mary’s Kirkyard NT256235. W on tarmac to Dryhope and SUW then 4x4 track up Dryhope Burn after which bits of ATV track can be linked up almost to summit of Deepslack Knowe. Irksome veg to Blackhouse Heights, then paths and ATVs to Black Law, Conscleuch Head, Deer Law, Henderland Hill, Capper Law, ATV down E flank of this to St Mary’s kirkyard.Isbjorn03/06/2022
From small mapped parking on A708 near Dryhope (NT 2712 2429). Ward Law first then dropped down to cross SUW and pick up good estate road which goes a good distance up the glen. On to Black Law and SW Top, Conscleuch Head and Deer Law before dropping steeply down in NE direction to pick up estate road at bottom of Ferny Cleuch for a 5k walk out. A pleasant 17.3 round albeit in wintery conditions on the tops.jonglew07/04/2022
Easy parking down track opposite Dryhope, beyond telecoms mast. Track through Dryhope, then heathery slopes to Deepslack Knowe. Faint ATV tracks E and SE to mapped track. Returned over Ward Law.PGCE20/03/2021
Boggy in places higher upsam.g.guthrie28/11/2020
Up from Dryhope. Not the best hill I have been on. The Heather slog to the top was tough going. Not unsure it was worth the effort.Andrew Simmons22/11/2020
10:40, nice weather (cool for time of year). From Dryhope with Bag For Life. Tedious heather hack after leaving track. On to Black Law.Wycombe Wanderer21/07/2020
After Ward Law. Attractive road up Dryhope with all the young trees and accompanying bird life then a series of faint or boggy ATV tracks. Return via Kirksteadhope and the tower. Rained most of the time, but an enjoyable round.fasgadh04/07/2020
